Cancer may or may not emit PSA
At our visit with the urologist today, I asked if all prostate cancers emitted PSA. The answer surprised me: he said that no, not all of them did and sometimes the more deadly cancers did not emit near as much PSA. Scary thoughts! He also said that in development is a urine test for prostate cancer.

At a loss. continued....
So I am unsure on where to begin so I am jumping in head first. My boyfriend's father was diagnosed in 2007 that he had colon cancer. I believe at this time he decided to treat the cancer with natural remedies, homeopathic Dr.'s and an organic diet. This seemed to be "working" (feeling better, looking better and keeping a…

Soy for those on Hormone Shots?
This is a post responding to something gjeck posted in another thread RE soy. First, it is known that soy encourages the production of estrogen, which is nice for ladies, and not bad for men under normal conditions. But I am not normal right now. I am on Eligard that blocks all testosrone production in my body. Do I as a…

PSA Re-occurence
Diagnosed with a PSA that rose from 4.0 to 5.8 between Nov. '03 and Jan. '04 I had biopsy performed that revealed cancer present. Underwent RP in March 2004 revealing it had escaped capsule but did not spread (Gleason 3+4). Urologist who performed the PR wanted me to have additional treatment and I underwent 37 sessions of…

For those of you who are interested clinical trials for HIFU....there is a Dr. Russel Locke in Ocala,FL. who has done the procedure. I was not aware of this when I had surgery which led to radiation. Criterion for acceptance is PSA <10, prostate size<40g, gleason <6. You can google his # or try 866)650-4466. Good Luck.

FDA
www.fda.gov is the official website of the Food and Drug Administration of the United States of America. Here you can do a search of medical devices, drugs, therapies and food to look up information. I found articles pertaining to research ongoing about different therapies. It is a website worth exploring to see how the…

sorry ladies it is time for equal rights :-)
This is why we need to spread the word on Prostate Cancer…as the “general public” believes it is no big deal and we all know better… My wife came back from a “girl’s night” out for dinner and some of the ladies thought that I had pancreatic cancer. When they found out I had prostate cancer then the conversation went to…

Hey Guys. I'm new to the board. I was diagnosed in Nov. 09 with very early prostate ca. My PSA was 6.8 and a rectal biopsy showed <1% of the total taken. I am 52 and have been in good health. I had a DiVinci on Jan. 26, 2010 in Indianapolis by Dr. John Scott. Surgery went well and I had my cath removed 8 days later. I plan…

Another Open vs Robotic
Trying to decide on surgery type. Dr. who does both(only a few robotic) recommends open due to my numbers. He believes he can minimize margins better with open. Have not talked to a Dr. who has done lots of robotics. PSA 6.9 8-12 specimens with 6(3+3), 1(3+4 100%), 1(4+3 100%) Endorectol MRI with coil-indicated palpable…

PSA Lab Results
Hi All, My name is John and my sister Nicole has asked a question regarding our Dad and his PSA level post-prostatectomy. He had robotic surgery and it went very well. We researched the surgeons to find out who is one of the best and we were able to find out. I think this helped a lot with his side effects. The question I…

Cancer related- Sleep aide?
At night I am very restless and have to keep up 3- 6 or more times to go to the restroom. Flowmax does not help- I have no such problem during the day. I have used Xanax sparingly and have had good results with it, but I am afraid of Xanax- it is addicting. So I am wondering what others have used to help them relax and…

PSA was as high as 4.3, it came down to 3.8 recently. I was shocked his biopsy came back positive. Our urologist is doing HIFU in mexico, or can…
