groin pain
HI My husband is 52 and recently diagnosed. Unfortunately this type of cancer is not entirely new to us. Less than 2 years ago his 86 year old father died of advanced prostate cancer. My husband has been very proactive about getting regular tests and checks for PC. His Dr. assured him there was no problem. Eventually he…

Is this a rising psa?
I had an rp on 7/25/03. 54 years old and psa 4.7. After rp gleason score of 7+ and cancer found on margins. Three months after rp - psa was 0.14 (they said they were getting the psa two ways - the old way of 0.14 and the new sensitive way which equated to 0.04). Psa went (new way) from 0.04 to 0.03 to 0.02 to 0.01 and then…

collogen after the Sling
I had RP almost two years ago and have a problem with Incontinence. I was going to get collogen injections but the doctor talked me into getting the Sling surgery. Well that didn't work. Now I am thinking of collogen injections again. When I went to the V/A they didn't seem interested in doing it. I am military retired so…

pain
One of our number who has been involved in the discussions in the past is suffering from pain and recently has experienced numbness in his right hand and has difficulty typing and that is probably why he has not been back on the discussion. He is having a hard time and the doctors are having trouble finding out exactly…

Survival Rates for agressive and conservative treatment
I really angered my urologist yesterday. I asked why so few studies have compared active treatment options to just leaving prostate cancer to Mother Nature. I pressed for an age-adjsuted estimate of 10 year survival rates given surgery vs minimal treatment. Put another way, I wanted to know if agressive treatment will…

Just another newby.
At my age, 52, and sexual activity status, this has been a real hard pill to swallow. I'm getting/giving all the sex we can between today and tomorrow as Monday morning I get LRP. I'd just like to thank everyone who left words here for me to read as I found much encouragement it them. Thanks again to all.

Ketoconazole and Hydrocortisone
I was diagnosed in Feb 2004 with PC and while undergoing RP, I learned that there was involvment in the lymph nodes. (at least one but they always assume PC spread to the others.) I was started on HDT (Eligard and Casodex) and PSA dropped from 31.2 to 0.2 and remained low until Oct 2005 when it started to rise to 0.8 then,…

Recovery from Incontinence
Following radical prostatectomy three years ago, I have still not recovered from incontinence. I still use one Depends pad per day, two if I spend a lot of time on my feet. My doctor has been of little help in suggesting ways to improve incontinence, except proposing an artificial sphincter. I have tried eliminating…

a hearing ear
I just thought if anyone out there is recently diagnosed with PC and is just needing someone to talk to then I am here. I do answer my messages. I was diagnosed with early stage PC and we were able to get it taken care of with a radical prostatectomy (surgery). I was diagnosed in November of 2004 and the surgery was in…

incontinence pads
Thank God my incontinence is very minor at this point. I'm still using the same pad I started out with, Serenity for men. They are very good but way more than I need now. I'm at one pad a day and it never even comes close to being saturated. What are some good light pads to use? I think it won't be too long before I won't…
