I finished my last radiology treatment April 12th (squanamous cell base of tongue, surgery removing cancerous lesion, both tonsils, and 4 lymph nodes, then 35 rad and 7 chemo). Since then I've gone thru 2 sessions (15 treatments each) of Vital Stem Therapy and still having trouble swallowing anything with any texture other…

New here and wanted to say hello
I was diagnosed last week with scc, and came across this site and found it to be informational and supportive. It is great to see the multiple year survivors, and that gives me hope. I am having to wait until next Tuesday to talk to my oncologist. I am very concerned with staging, and trying to locate the spread. Seeing…

When to consider "quality of life" over treatment
I feel overwhelmed with everything we are hearing from the doctors regarding Bobbie's cancer. It's aggressive, it has spread, side affects of chemo are kidney damage, high possibility it will return in 1-2 years, plus all the regular downside of chemo and radiation treatment - tired, sick, trying to stay health and away…

How long does it take to get results of your PET SCAN?
Pet Scan is coming up for our loved one and we are seeing the doctor right after it's completed. Will we get the results immediately or is this something that takes days/weeks to get completed? We just got the neck and base of tongue cancer diagnosis 2 weeks ago and are anxiously awaiting for results to assure us that the…

Help needed
My husband was diagnosed with esophageal cancer at the cervical of his espohagus. This was after being treated for laryngeal cancer(laryngectomy and throat reconstruction 3/2011). He was told that due to the location of the tumor that surgery would be very hard due to his previous radiation and surgery. He has since…

Long time no write! Have a question about a problem...
Hey gang! BFD here and while I haven't posted in a few months, I guess that's kind of a good thing. My "success story" continues. In remission and NED for 20 months now, approaching the 2-year mark, and that's good. Fibrosis down around 90%, L'Hermittes gone, range of motion back to normal thanks to my great chiropractor.…

My Voice Saga
Visited my voice therapist yesterday, and she got my voice prosthesis working again. For those that do not know: I've had my voice box removed and had a tracheal-esophogeal puncture (TEP) at the time. A one-way valve is fitted so when I cover my stoma (hole in the neck) air is forced into the esophagus, which vibrates to…

Need oppinion-biopsy now, later or never???????
I have now been physically examined and scoped by my ENT, Radoncologist and surgeaon. None of them can see anything abnormal in my mouth, throat, tongue etc.however a small spot that came up hot on my PET has the tumor board concerned. MILESTONES ARE GOOD
Hi everybody! For 2 days I've exceeded 1200 calories by mouth with no cans going into the feeding tube! Tonight we went to Steak n SHake after the movie and I actually ate a Frisco Melt. I can hardly believe it. The milkshake hurt my throat but the sandwich was fine. Taste still not 100% but I'm very thankful that I have…

Lump develops during Radiation
My husband undergoes 12 daily session of radiation as of today. But we notice that there is a small lump under his jaw. Is it normal to develop that lump during radiation? the med onco told us that it was due to radation. But my worry is that, will it vanish after completing the radiation? Thanks, Mitch16

Anyway, she was a smoker and continues to smoke. I have…
