My 4 year Lifeaversary
4 years ago today I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. I heard the words "you have cancer" for the first time. My life has been changed forever by those 3 words. Unfortunately I heard "your cancer is back" a few months after completing the first 8 months of treatment. Over the last 4 years, I have had 2 major…

Nausea & treatment
Candace - 63 years - living in central Maine. I was dx with satge 3 with 3 nodes in 9/2012. Resection. 11 rounds of Folfox and I stayed "clean" until 8/2014 when 3 medium size tumors showed up in ovary, cul de sac, and close by. Total hysterectomy. 10 rounds of Folfiri till 3/2015, and while I know I have the disease,…

Laz' 2 Year NED!
Yesterday 2 years when they removed my 5x4cm rectal cancer with clear margins. So that is the day I was considered NED. Life has been pretty good: I went back to work over a year ago, I love my work and keep doing the teaching business I started while sitting at home during chemo. Physically and financially I recovered…

Chemoradiation before surgery
Hello Everyone, I am new to this site and also new to colorectal cancer. My husband, 48 yo, was just diagnosed with Stage III Rectal Cancer. He then started radiation + chemo 5FU (low dosage) for 5 1/2 weeks to make the tumor shrink before they do surgery. It has been almost 3 weeks now, but he has reaction from chemo…

Update stage 3 with chemo going awesome
so it's been a while... I had surgery last July to remove an " orange" from my colon and since then I had clear PET CT scans prior to chemo in August . Port placed thereafter and I dug in and started working out like a SOB... I'm 45 and in pretty good health so all of this was quite surprising, as for all of us. I decided…

Update
I have not posted here for some time. In June I had a colon resection and HAI pump implant at MSK. My first scan since starting on the pump chemo (8 weeks) showed a 10% shrinkage in the liver tumors. I am trying to get enough shrinkage to get to liver resection, I don't know how much that is... I feel good other than chemo…

What's the skinny on night sweats?
Does anyone have any solid knowledge on night sweats? I had surgery over a month ago, but woke up with wet nightgown ... Really uncomfortably wet. Had to change out of it kind of wet. Lost ovaries over 2 years ago, and never had such a sweat. Especially it's cooler weather now! I'm trying hard not to freak out about this…

How often do you get scans and CEA checked?
I have noticed that there is a great difference in how often we are getting scans after our Chemo regime is over. I know it depends on the type of Cancer, or where it was, where it spread or how big and the like; but I still thought it would make a good reference thread to see how often folks here get their scans. I am 17…

I forgot all about my "cancer-versary" this year.
I guess that's a good thing! September 28th went by, and it was only a few days later that it dawned on me that I hadn't even thought about the fact that it's been six years since my first surgery. I don't post here as much these days, but I thought I would on this occasion, just to give a little hope to some of our newer…

Illeostomy reversal, pros and cons
I saw my surgeon yesterday and he says I can have it reversed if I want. The waiting list as about a year so I have time to really consider this. If it turns out that my lung spots are cancerous and there's not much they can do I won't get it reversed as I want whatever time I have to be good as long as possible but if I…

Metastic colon cancer in the liver. Third surgery and I'm cured again...right! Does anybody have any data on the reoccurance of colorectal cancer (metastic or not) after a liver resection? Regards, Wiley Winter

Good times, Bad times
I haven't been posting much, but catch up on new posts daily. I don't like to speak out when I don't have much good to say, but I guess I feel the need to whine. It feels like a blur since being diagnosed in early 2014. Last year chemo did me well. I had a total response and was NED for the last part of the year, I kept in…
