Surgery is over
My husband Howie had his lung surgery yesterday. They did a complete right upper lobectomy. Did not go as smooth as we thought it would. Surgery should have been 2 hours but took 5 hours due to complications with the arteries and veins. Instead of a 3 inch incision he has a 9 inch. The good news is they were able to take…

chemo-related ulcers "down below"?
I know it is relatively common to have mouth ulcers as a side-effect of chemo (ouch). Wondering if anyone has experience with ulcers in the genital area, while on chemo? (Please excuse the sensitive topic). I have a small ulcer near my vagina. My oncologist says he hasn't encountered this before. To me, it makes sense --…

Christians
Sometimes, we are who we are. I once was a Pastor, the Church of Christ. Organized religion was I. There came a time, I no longer believed. I still believe in a Supreme Being, in a Great Spirit, but not in the way most "Christians" believe in. I never lost that belief, He, It, is still there for me. I simply no longer…

Hat in the creek, the cows crapped on it and stepped on it
Well we got up at 4:30 am and drove the 110 miles to the surgery center for my 5th colonoscopy in 2 years. The whole damn time hoping all the prep was out of me. Kept the bottom side puckered the entire trip. Just made it without sharting green Jell-O residue in my pants. Got another hot nurse to take care of getting me…

18 Months down
I just had my 18 month scan since liver resection and 9 months since my last chemo treatment. After a brief scare (ovarian cyst the radiologist thought looked "complex" but a quick sonogram determined to be nothing) my doctor told me I was all clear. My husband and I were very happy. Although I know it could come back at…

I do have some fingertip neuropathy and my feet are still pretty much the same but I don't even notice it except when I first walk barefoot. God has…

Note to Buzzard
I know how you feel when you say you hope for a primary cancer and not mets from CRC. My husband is also going through the same exact thing. Last year he battled stage 3 colon cancer. Three weeks ago he had a vats biopsy of the lung. The doctor told us the same thing. If it has to be cancer hope it is a primary and not…

Not exactly what I was hoping to hear - CEA
After my resection my CEA was 2. It slowly climbed until chemo and during the first few treatments, and then slowly dropped back to 2 and stayed there. It was 2 mid-May after completion of chemo. I am back up to 8.1. I'll have a re-check next week, and then see my onc the following Friday (he's on vacation next week). For…

Folks we have a lot going on here at the board and it has been hard to keep up with the dates for everyone. I for one don't want to miss the opportunity to give best wishes to those heading for surgeries or other difficult procedures. Could we start a thread for "upcoming procedures"? No chat about the weather, just what…

Could be damn good news
Hey guys. I got a call from my super colon surgeon tonight. He said they ran my biopsy samples from my rectum back thru the system. They now come back as non definitive for cancer. Remember the PET said only “possible” activity there. He does not take chances so he is going to do another colonoscopy on me Friday 9 am. It’s…
