declotting port
Well I went to the hospital today to get the port declotted. They flushed it and then put the clot buster drug in, I had to wait 1 hour, and then they tried putting in saline. That works, but when they try to draw blood nothing happens. SO they administered the drug a second time. Waited another hour and tried again. Same…

Where do we go from here......
Hi all, It has taken me a while to come to grips with this.... Last Monday my husband went into the hospital to have a liver resection done. They opened him up, removed one tumor attached to the diaphragm/liver. They then checked out the lung and found numerous tumors on the right lung. They left the 2 tumors in his liver…

She was in recovery for a couple hours, and into ICU by 6. We did not get to see her for more than a couple minutes because the visiting hours were…

Does anyone out there experience changes in skin color ? I have had 5 infusions of Folfox with Avastin and have noticed my skin changing colors quite often. It's kind of funny watching it happen. One hand and arm will have a deep dark tan and the other is white. An hour later it will be the opposite hand and arm. Just…

Biopsy results
Biopsy results were inconclusive, WTF! The Drs said there is definitely abnormal cells, but they couldn't pinpoint it as any particular type of cancer. Surgery is scheduled for next friday. My surgeon and oncologist are puzzled, as are the pathologists. My surgeons best guess is that if not cancer the abnormal cells were…

Finally My Turn
I was dx 22mos ago. I'm stage IV with mets to the liver and celiac lymph nodes. Farrah's Story
My husband and I watched her story Friday night (5/15/09) at 9:00am on NBC 4. He has been through soooo much and endured sooo much pain to get her to the point she is at now. Another step to remind me I am a cancer survivor
When I had my first round of chemo/radiation I was told that it's rare for 5FU patients to lose their hair. My hair thinned, but that was it. Had surgery, and now am back on 5FU. Starting with round 1 my hair started falling out in great amounts. Round 2, more hair loss. I am nearly bald on the top and sides. I start round…

God and Cancer
I realize that what I am about to say will not be a popular view on this site, but I feel that it is my job as a Christian to say it. Seems as though religion has been a huge topic on this board lately. I am always amazed at how two words could stir up so much controversy… GOD & JESUS. Anytime those words are mentioned,…

He has been feeling great. He began taking synthroid about 5 months ago because his hormones were a bit off balance but had…

Tears and Joys
For some reason, today has been a day of tears. I feel lucky/blessed in my journey, but I am really struggling today with the feeling that this is truly a war we are fighting. We have lost people we admire and love and we are all still fighting as hard as we can. I had my port flushed on Thursday and ended up in tears…

I'll be heading out to Baptist Hospital in the morning to start the prep for the Cytoreductive surgery and IPHC. As you can imagine, I am getting nervous, remembering my past surgeries and having a bit of some flashbacks. I really need to go to bed, and some Ativan will help. Your prayers are appreciated. My daughters will…

something sorta "bumpy" right on top middle of stomach...[UPDATE]
Hello again, My mom had her 2nd chemo about 12 days ago, the 3rd one coming this upcoming Monday...anyways right after her 2nd chemo, she started having abdominal pain (pain threshold like 3 out of 10) and it went away so doc/us assumed it is due to the 5FU she was attached to and side effects. Its been 12 days, this…

Start Chemo Monday
I'm probably more scared to start this than having the actual surgery itself. I have already been through radiation/chemo (pill form) and tolerated that very well and then major surgery am told that they got all the cancer and now this is just a precaution, but I'm afraid of the side effects. Everyone here has dealt with…

Not eating
I've taken Oxaliplatin, 5FU, Avastan, and Leucovorin for eight treatments. After the sixth treatment I have not able to eat. I can drink Ensures and broth, but I can't eat anything with any substance. This has gone on for nine weeks. Has anyone else had this problem after taking this combination. The doctor said it is not…
