Oncotype, MammaPrint, etc.
Hmm, I'm wondering if there is a way I can get one of these type of tests. I'm really very interested in just what my score would be. When I asked the oncologist about it he told me no. His reason: "Because we already know how to treat your breast cancer." He's a jerk that I just got stuck with when my doctor moved and I…

Wire-localized biopsy/lumpectomy
My MRI showed only the 2 masses that had been spotted on my mammo and u/s (one lump on each). Now I'm scheduled for surgery to remove both masses on Tuesday. My dr says there will be a needle-wire localization placement into each mass before surgery. Can anyone tell me what to expect? Thanks! Alice

Parenthood
I started this discussion in another thread....but wanted to know if anyone out there is watching Parenthood this season? They are doing an excellent story line about a character with Breast Cancer. It has been emotional for me watching it. Bringing me back to all of those moments of uncertaintly in the beginning.

Abbreviations --- for our New Sisters in PINK :)
*Please note: There can be multiple meanings for some abbreviations in medicine. In medical notes, you often have to look at the context. With some abbreviations, it can be difficult. My List is meant to be used as a reference only: AC - one of the five most common types of chemo given to women with BC. It's probably the…

Have those of you diagnosed had the OncoType DX Gene Assay done? Anyone with a high number?
I had first stage breast cancer diagnosed in December 2011. My oncologist wanted me to have the OncoType DX assay before he finalized the plan of action (chemo and radiation or just radiation). I am sorry to say my Oncotype came back at 38. (0-10 is low, 11-20 is medium, 20-30 is high). This is apparently different from…

All over body pain after chemo is finished
Just some food for thought here. I completed chemo February - May 2012, and radiation from May thru June 2012. In February I was given Levoquin and a steroid at the beginning of each chemo process. I also had a Neulasta shot. Side effects of both Neulasta and Levoquin can be extreme body (bone and muscle) pain. I was an…

Help remembering names of Spirit Sisters again please.
Once again, I'm asking for help remembering the 'Names' of our Spirit Sisters. BLONDE JOKE ONLY THREE DOORS: An airline captain was breaking in a new blonde stewardess. The route they were flying had a layover in another city. Taxotere-Adriamycin-Cytoxan
I did one round of this combination and it tore my system apart. I could not function. Had thrush and dehydrated and had to go in twice for hydration. I have never felt so out of it. My Oncologist has now take me off of the Taxotere. Has anyone else had this combination and how did it affect you?
