A Bit of an Update...
I emailed my surgeon's oncology nurse on Tuesday with concern. I had noticed that there was an increase in fluid build up under the skin of my mastectomy site across my chest, the length of my scar. It was visibly noticeable, but more disconcertingly, it felt and looked like a little waterbed on my chest. So, I got a call…

New to this
Hi Everyone, I've been reading your posts and feel like I've come to know some of you personally. Most of what I've noticed is the strength and compassion you have. I am trying to be the best I can be at a time like this and have found some great role models. I'm a StageIII with some lymph node involvement and a little…

Saw doc today and felt even worse......
I had chemo today and before saw my oncol. he didn't want to talk to me about my leg said we would "just see what happens" and then he asked me if about my relationship with in laws, parents, sibs, friends and I was like "um I get along with people" and he told me I need to a good support system and walked out of the room.…

If You Want To Know If A Pink Sister Has Logged On Recently But Just Hasn't Posted, Read This Please
I know sometimes a "shout out" is made for one or more of our pink sisters and we tend to worry. But, I have seen that some have logged on, but, just haven't posted, so, I tend to not worry. I just assume they don't want to post or something. The way to see if they are logging in is when you first log in, look on the right…

Intestinal inflammation
Considering all that I've been through, and all the chemo that has been poured into my system, I'm doing well. However, I do have this problem. Before chemo I had no digestive isues. After chemo my digestive system is making to much inflammation. Dr. doesn't know why. I have had upper, and lower, G.I. both were normal, no…

Prayer and candle gathering today, 8/25/11 for all WARRIORS here on our site -- 3:00 EST
So many of our 'brave' Sisters in PINK are in the midst of endless chemo, recurrence, questionable lumps, a pending biopsy, WBC problems, weaken immune systems, difficulty walking or standing, and FEAR of the unknown. I would also like to include all our newbies, as well. I adore and love each and every one of you 'brave'…

Mets question
Hi ladies. There are so many wonderful and caring people on here, I know I can trust asking a question. I try not to automatically think something is cancer as I know that we survivors still must deal with other ailments. I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance. Last October I had an MRI for lower back pain/severe…

Found a lump in my "good breast"
Hi girls, I was posting a lot in 2009-2010 because of having inflammatory breast cancer. Since then I have stopped by to post; although not regularly. I was scratching my remaining breast and felt a lump. I have an appt. tomorrow with my primary care physcian so I will address it with her and she should then order a…

Anybody know a good disability lawyer in the Baltimore area?
I have not been able to work for a long time, and I have private disability insurance (MetLife--dont ever buy ins from them, they suck) but they dont want to pay. Does anybody know a good lawyer who will work on contingency? (NOT social sec. dis.) I have a solid case, I just need help fast. Baltimore, MD area. Thanks,…

I got the results at work today...
...that little lump wasn't just scar tissue. I don't have a plan of attack yet. The surgeon is recommending a CT or PET scan for "restaging", nothing scheduled yet. I'll definitely need surgery to try and get clean margins again, no schedule for that either. I haven't talked with the onc yet, so I don't know what he's…

My sister needs a ride to chemo
Hi to all in cyberspace... My sister just had a double mastectomy and went to her first chemo treatment two days ago. She lives in Crown Point, Indiana and needs help getting to/from her chemo sessions which are about 1-1/2 hours from her home. I live in Wyoming and so am not able to be there. Does anyone know where I…

Just had followup after tests...
Dr. Says overall my mets are about as stable as they will get with the severity of the involvement. Unfortunately the pain continues. He said we will not worry about the liver until I start turning yellow or my liver functions are bad, and we will keep a watch on it, as it may be cancer. I will only have 3 more chemos,…

How Do You Respond to Such Insensitivity?
To begin with, I have a sis-in-law from H#$L who lives in another state. I have been thru 10 months of surgery, chemo, and rads, and now finished. For the most part, am feeling well, but terribly fatigued and drained, as well as having a huge radiation burn that will need to be treated by a burn center. She emailed me the…

LCIS need to get this off my chest.
The breast surgeon found 3 small lumps in my right breast back in April. I had a mamo and ultrasound but nothing showed up so I returned 3 months later in July for a follow up appointment. The lumps are still there, apparently nothing has changed. The breast surgeon asked if I wanted another mammo and ultrasound. My…

Good resources for recently diagnosed bone metastases?
The optician at my optometrist’s office, who I’ve worked with for several years (and who talked me into the fabulously funky glasses you see in my picture!), has only been out of treatment for breast cancer for a year, and I found out today she's just been diagnosed with bone metastases. She’s still undergoing scans to…

new here and have a question about the powerport
I just got the powerport put in 2 months ago and when I went for blood drawn, the port had turned around to where the nubs were facing inside...my nurse did not know what to do about it so I grabbed it and turned it back around. the next day it is backwards again. I called the surgeon and he says it's impossible. has…

Monday's Biopsy Results
Not benign. :-( Med onc is currently lining up a surgeon for the first step. My original surgeon switched his specialty from breast to pancreatic cancer a few years ago. (sigh...) Hoping for the initial consultation appointment some time this week. Susan

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June - had lumpectomy in July then started chemo. I am wondering how side effects progress as I continue the chemo. Will have 4 more after today.

~~ What Makes You Smile ~~
There are so many things that I know make all of you smile, a baby's laughter, your grandchildren, your husband, a vacation, a promotion, the trees turning beautiful colors in the Fall, a plate full of french fries, a good bottle of wine, the first blue birds arriving in the Spring, NED, your 1st flowers blooming in your…

"So...are you okay now?"
On another thread, missrenee mentioned something that I think deserves its own discussion -- 'cause I myself would love to hear some good ideas about this, too! For those of us who've completed active treatment, how do you answer that infamous question from casual acquaintances, co-workers, neighbors: "So...are you okay…

new here!
Hi I'm new here. I just wanted to let everyone know a little bit about me. I'm 32 years old, I was recently diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma stage 3a with 2+ lymph nodes. It's very advanced due to the fact that my dr. and me were thinking it was something else so we didn't worry about it until the biopsy results…

OT: Earthquake! EVERYONE OK from VIRGINIA?!?!?!
Praying everyone is OK in Virginia. I felt my building shake, and I am in NYC, at work, 19th FL. Scary but also ironic. Please let us know you're doing OK. P.S. First thought I had: If I went through 8 chemo treatments, 16 radiation, and 3 weeks of tamoxifen, there is no way the roof will fall on my head.

When I blog it's flagged "Edit"
