One week down; four to go
Monday wasn't too bad, little queasy following treatment. Treatment consisted of laying in my custom "cradle", arms over my head and going into a CT type machine for 10 minutes. All together it took about 30 minutes because they do two scans everyday to make sure they are targeting the precise area of intent. Tuesday,…

Crazy Thoughts
So I have a cold or the flu or something. Big deal right??? But my mind just keeps spinning...how could I be sick? I take such good care of myself since all this cancer crap...I take enough immunity boosters and supplements to ward off any possible germs that dares to try to inhabit my body!!! So I must have cancer again…

White Blood Count
I am now 2 weeks after treatment and recovery has gone wonderful... am, of course, anxious about the upcoming test... I have a question about blood tests. I have been doing blood tests every week to make sure all is going back to normal. It has and my white blood count went from 2.1 up to 4.7... that was good. Now this…

Radiation starts Valentines Day
I had a consult with the head of the thoracic radiation department on January 21. I REALLY liked him. He was thorough and confident yet, very down to earth. He has treated many mesothelioma patients with IMRT radiation to the pleura. He is cautiously optimistic that I will have a good response. It will be 30 treatments…

no sleep again
So here it is...midnight...I'm so exhausted I can't stand it, yet I can't sleep. It's too late to take a Sominex cuz I have the 2 yr old in the am. I finally broke down and put Lidocane on the butt cuz the itching is driving me out of my mind. My forearms are cracked itching, and bleeding...I look like a druggie. I just…

HOPE
I've always had HOPE. I used to hope for a good hair day, the sun to shine on a day I planned an outdoor party or vacation...maybe (along time ago :) ) that a boy that I liked, liked me back. After being diagnosed with cancer, the things I hope for have changed dramatically. In the last couple of years, I have hoped for…

toilet paper alternative
I haven't been on for a while, slowly getting back into the swing of things. I'm 3 weeks post treatment now, and marveling at how quickly my body has recovered from the radiation. I wish I could say the same for the chemo, I'm still short of breath and easily exhausted, but I am trying to be patient. Follow ups scheduled…

I hope noone minds that I invited my baby sister to our discussions. she does not have cancer, thank GOD, but I need some one in my family to understand what I'm going thru. Nausea & urgency
I am almost three years out since finishing treatments. I still struggle with nausea and urgency in bowel movements. Have had accidents. Cannot pin down to certain trigger foods. Okay, this is where I'm at. Either my bottom is so painful that I can't sit on it, or this itching drives me absolutely crazy. Caregiver has questions on setting up a sitz bath.
Hi. My 84 year old Mom is on day 12 of radiation treatments for anal cancer. We're anticipating the need for sitz baths so we did a practice one yesterday. The sitz bath that I bought came with no instructions. I'm sure it's not a complex process but sometimes I'm a little slow with these things and I want to make sure…

too much pain
I am 5 1/2 months post treatment, and it seems like a day doesn't go by that I'm pain free. Unless I use the Regencare with Lidocane, I am a complete mess. Diarreha sometimes, but every time I go to the bathroom, I have a bowel movement, which seems like it's tearing my insides out. I feel like I'm sitting on broken glass.…

My Check Up
Everything went just as I figured. GREAT! I don't have to have scans but once a year now, so my I will get mine in September. I don't have to go back to the Doctor for 6 months. As far as the kidney goes, he felt it was just my turn to start having kidney stones, and just said to keep drinking the water, and maybe add a…
