So thrilled that this third chemo seems to be doing the right thing for me. Side effects have been minimal - some lethargy and lack of energy and neuropathy in my feet continuing. I am now also…

What comes next?
Hi everyone, I write because my 63 year old mother in law was told last week that her PPC is back. She has a peanut size tumor in the abdominal cavity, between the main vein and the aorta. She was initially diagnosed with this in the summer of 2010, and went through eight months of super agressive chemo, plus it took her…

Hope for our daughters
This story from the NY Times tells how in the future there may be a test for ovarian cancer short of removing ovaries to biopsy them. I can appreciate how welcome that might be -- 4 years ago, long before my PPC was diagnosed, I was suspected of having ovarian cancer and had a hysterectomy/oophorectomy. Results then were…

Roll Call - PPC
Hi All On the Ovarian site they are doing a roll call of people with a description of how they were diagnosed, when, treatment, outcomes, etc etc. I suggest we do the same as often when I look up a postee's details there are none. This is such a rare cancer the more we can share information the more we can help each other.…

Well on day 6 I could not stop throwing up and I was admitted into hospital. I have been in here on and off for weeks. I have severe…

Good news!
What a long time I've waited to say this: I'm normal! Blood drawn on New Year's Eve shows my benchmark CA 125 marker is in the normal range -- 31.2. Happy New Year! Just had to share the good news. I hope it lasts.

If I request a pet scan
hello I am just wondering if I pay for a pet scan would that show if I have peretoneal cancer or should I just have exploratory surgery? My gyn said come back in 3 months since the abdominal/ pelvis MRI, tv ultrasound and tumor markers were negative. She said that pelvic free fluid on an MRI of the pelvis is NOT considered…

NOT QUITE THERE YET. NOW WHAT--SURGERY?
Happy New Year, everyone! Yesterday I got the results of last week's PET scan. I was hoping for the status of N.E.D.—no evidence of disease. Not so fast. There was no uptake of the scan’s radioactive dye, meaning there’s no metabolic activity in the tumor, which of course is good news. There would be no value in further…
