Big pharma
Just recently being diagnosed with very aggressive pca at age 39, I've been absorbing as much info as possible so I can make the best decisions I can. So far I've realized there is no money in the cure, money is in treatments, that make you sicker, ruin your quality of life and even cause more cancer. Anyone that thinks…

alternative therapy
I am 54 years old and was diagnosed with prostate cancer about three weeks ago. My psa was 16. 11 out of 12 samples returned with a Gleason score of 3+3 or 3+4. Getting other tests done...CT, X-Ray, Nuclear Bone scan. The last thing i want is to have surgery. Has anyone had any luck with alternative treatments. I've read…

Too young
I can't help but notice, I'm the youngest on here by far. Can't help but think if I was 70-80 this would be alot easier. I'm only 39 years old, just found out what a prostate was, a couple months ago.

Coming to grips
Had radiography images done today, waiting on those results. I've heard they're are 3 things to consider. Psa level, gleason score, positive cores out of all cores taken. Well my prognosis doesn't look good. Psa in 40s, probably 50s now. 12 positive cores out of 12 at a 100%. All is gleason 9 score. For those who have…

Time to check out
I'm 39 years old. Gleason 9, psa in the 40s, biopsy 12 out of 12 cores all 100%. Psa jumped from 33 to 40 in three weeks. Just had nuclear radiography images done, waiting on results. Have had symptoms for about 6 months. Group grade was 5 0f 5. As I am only 39 I do not want to lose ability to get an election. So many…

Surgical Castration
I am on the road to surgical castration. After surgery I will be given 50mg of Casodex to take daily. The worst part is that I may have a tendency to gain weight (Lupron tends to cause people to gain weight too.) If anyone has had surgical castration please write about you side effects. I am scheduled for surgery in early…

Here is a short Bio of my PC history. I was Dxed with PC in 1990, had my RP June of 1990, next was salvage radiation in 2005. I went from then to April 2015 when my PC started spreading. Necular boan scans show it had spread to Left Rib, Prostate Bed, and Bladder. I went on Lupron for 9 months, but have been off of it now.…

New to the Cleveland, Ohio area
Hi All, Looks like University Hospital has a new type of Proton beam radiation machine that controls the length of the beam. This should mean less damage to surrounding areas unlike other types of radiation that go completely through the body and hit other organs & tissue. Check it out as a possible resource, according to…

Advice required about post RP radiotherapy
Hi there, I'm the wife of a 45 year old so was diagnosed with Prostate cancer 16 months ago with a PSA 120 and a Gleason of 9. MIraculously the choline PET, bone scans and 3T MRIs didn't show that it had spread to other organs and he had an RP straight away by da Vinci robot. (And started Zolodex) Unfortunately he had a…

Newbie - high PSA
Recently I had dificulties urinating and went to see an urologist. The doc took urine and blood samples and measured prostate volume (by DRE). Results: prostate volume 5.1; Urinalysis: some red cells and white cells, but no infection or bacterial culture. PSA = 22 (this is my first-time PSA). Doc put me on Flomax and Cipro…

Totally New Guy - Biopsy or MRI
Hello to all and I appreciate any opinions. I am 65-1/2 years old. PSA checked every year. Last test 4.5 then had % free PSA checked and it came back at 20. My PSA velocity has been straight line for several years at about plus .55 per year hence now I am at the start of the grey area. My doctor said I could "forget about…

sRT Almost Finished
Haven't been here for a while. Six more sessions of savage radiation left. Original plan was 70 Gy in 35 fractions plus 52 Gy to lymph Nodes with 62 Gy to nodes identified by the 68 Gallium PSMA PET/CT. So far, diarrhea two times, a lot of gas and some problems with constipation at other times - constipation lessens up…

Post prostatectomy IMRT treatments
I had my prostate removed using robotic surgery in May 2010. A slowly rising PSA score of the past year up to the threshold of .20 for a recurrence led me to seek out radiation therapy (IMRT) to destroy some apparently late-developing cancer cells somewhere in the bed of my now-removed prostate. Although the success rate…

High Doses of Testosterone
To All Has any one seen this? Use of extreme high doses of Testosterone and then cutting to extreme low levels of testosterone as a treatment for PCA. It's done in cycles. Testing from John's Hopkins. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2016/11/30/man-cured-prostate-cancer-doctors-shock-tumour-death-testosterone/…

1.5T vs 3 T mp-MRI rationale
Both places, A and B, have had 3T MRI machines. The first urologist I went to in A uses a 1.5T MRI. Now I am finding prostate patients can't get the 3T mp-MRI at location B either. What gives? I am scheduled this week for.... the 1.5T, and not totally happy about it. Talking with a tech in passing, he thought all prostate…
