Another new guy trying to understand
Greetings everyone - I have been reading here today and I like the attitudes of everyone so I thought I would throw out my question. I had a Biopsy done back in 2014 when my PSA was 4.6 - a segment of the report is shown below: Clinical History / Pre-op Diagnosis: Elevated prostate specific antigen (PSA)…

CYBER KNIFE
I've searched and read the posts here regarding CK, the most recent being this year, but most dating back to 2011/2010. The closest CK facility to us would be about 35 miles away, certainly feasible if my husband chooses that route. Posted earlier under 'my husband' in case anyone wants to peruse the details. Bottom line,…

first contact
Well, I've started inquiring locally ("A") and away ("B"). A/B, first post. Locally I'm having problems on getting an office quote for cash where basically we do some kind of exam, DRE, PCA3 and draw a 4Kscore blood test ($395 for 4K's lab in NJ itself, $xxxx for a blood draw instead of $xx ???). My order of battle is to…

the new guy - a candidate
Well, I got a high PSA last week, 8+ and some other unfriendly bloodwork. It's been a few years since last PSA (+1.x?) A year ago I put on another 25 lbs extra, and I think that was a donut too far. This year I've been dealing with mild BPH symptoms. So I got a call from the doctor, and he says take the PSA seriously, a…

Pathology Report Cath Removal
Had my RP follow up appointment today, catheter removed and got updated pathology report. Its been 11 days since RP surgery and finally feels good to get my ball and chain removed. Dr was pleased to tell me that cancer has been removed and that no follow up radiation or HT will be needed at this time. Still on light duty…

Prolaris score? (genetic test)
Has anyone had any experience with the Prolaris genetic test? Mine was donein August, but my urologist did not mention it when going over my biopsy results. I found out by looking at my records that my score was 3.3, which from what I can find on the net is a rather alarming score. If so, why wouldn't my urologist have…

New Diagnosis--looking for long term feedback
Friends, I was recently diagnosed w/ prostate cancer. A PSA test of 6.75 led to a biopsy, which showed 2 of 12 cores were cancerous, and assessed at 3+4 = 7 Gleason. I'm 46 and otherwise very healthy (you know, other than having cancer). I'm leaning towards protons--Oklahoma City has a convenient Procure facility--but…

Prostate Cancer in Bladder
The team was divided about whether a suspicious extension into the bladder seen on TRUS was something to be concerned about. They decided on a cystoscopy and told me they didn't expect to find anything. My husband is GS 4+5, PSA 28, 100% of cores + Bone and CT scan clear. (age 59) Unfortunately, there most definitely was…

MY HUSBAND
Hello: I am originally from the Ovarian Cancer and Breast Cancer boards. Been coming here a long time. Now I have a question regarding my husband's situation, hoping just to get some feedback. PCa progression and metastasis without detectable PSA levels?
Has anyone on this forum heard or read of prostate cancer progression after a radical prostatectomy yet without detectable PSA levels? I’m talking about progression and metastasis with NO detectable PSA levels (<0.04 which is the current undetectable level)? In a 2012 article in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, they…

Osteoporosis relative to lupron injection site
I have been receiving Lupron 22.5 injections every 3 months for 3 years. They recently did a bone density scan on and my right pelvis came up negative indicating advanced osteoporosis in that location. all other locations were almost normal. Since my injection site has always been there on the right buttock , could it be…

HD Brachy + EBRT + ADT Anyone with experience to share?
Our Radiation oncologist says that there is no data to compare HD Brachy+ EBRT + ADT (neo + 2 yrs ) to RP + EBRT. I'm concerned about outcomes and side effects. My husband (age 59) is very high risk. GS 4+5, PSA 28, all cores +, N0, M0 (Ct/bone scan) Maybe RT has very long term effects for younger men? Thank you.

Biochemical Recurrence
I am 44 and recently had a robotic prostatectomy 8/16. Pre op my gleason score was 3+3=6 and PSA was 3.69 4/16 which had roughly tripled since 2012. The pathology report from the prostatectomy showed clear margins, clear seminal vesicles, and that the tumor was confined within the prostatic capsule with a Gleason score of…

New here: Husband has very high risk localized PCa
Hello, My husband (age 59) was just diagnosed with very high risk PCa. (PSA 28, GS 4+5, 8/8, 12/12+, N0, M0) I am extremely upset not only because he has this cancer but even more because the doctor didn't even mention PSA screening at his previous physicals. I've since discovered national guidelines that direct against…

Newly diagnosed with Prostate Cancer
Hi, I was recently diagnosed with Prostate cancer and I am attempting to do as much research as possible. One thing I found to be consistent in the research....is the inconsistency of all the information. I know there is no "one size fits all"..but I was seeking some insight from men who are currently in my situation, or…
