Would appreciate any guidance
Hi, My head is spinning from doing so much research online, and am hoping I can get some insight from this community. My Dad, who is 72 had his kidney/ureter removed in April after being diagnosed with urotherial carcinoma. I think that is the type, I believe in "upper tract" (I have to tread lightly when asking…

Today's funny
A senior citizen from The Villages Retirement Community in Florida drove his brand new Corvette stingray convertible out of the dealership. Taking the on ramp south on I-75, he floored it to 80 mph enjoying the wind blowing through what little gray hair he had left. “Amazing,” he thought as he flew down I 75, pushing the…

Home from the kidney removal
So I got through the surgery on Thursday and only had one complications, I had irregular heart beat and went into afib, but they pulled me out of it and I am good. Doc beleives the chemo i had for my BC was a contributor to this. So while I went home with one less kidney, I pick up 2 more meds for life. I feel good though.…

3/4 Month follow-up scans
I had my first round of two weeks ago (partial neph/enucleation was end of March). My urologist initially opted for just the abdominal CT (w/ contrast), but I pushed for chest and pelvis too since I never had one before the surgery. Luckily my insurnace provider (Aetna) approved the revised request and was able to get the…

New To Kidney Cancer - Looking for Advice
I'm very glad I found this support group, as I am going through an enormous flood of emotions. I'll keep my story brief, but would love any guidance anybody has based on your own experiences. BACKGROUND: A few weeks ago, I noticed blood in my urine and after two ER visits caused by this and major left flank pain, a CT scan…

Genetic Testing Results
I just heard from my doctor about my genetic testing results. Here they are: "extended cancer panel including 83 cancer genes was normal, no pathogenic variants were confirmed." This is good news...of sorts. I went the genetic testing route as a way to find the "why" of my cancer diagnosis. I'm still left wondering. I've…

Open partial nephrectomy pain
I had an open partial nephectomy done at Mayo clinic on June 11 2019. The circumstances were a bit odd because I was born with only one kidney and I already had stage 3 kidney disease when I was diagnosed. The good news is that they removed a 4.5 cm tumor and the margins were clear, so they said that I am cured of cancer.…

7 months post surgery pain
Hello - I am 33 years old and had a 2 cm size tumor removed via robot December 6th. I have been fine ever since until a couple weeks ago I started having pain on the front side of my abdomen on side that the tumor was removed on. I'm having any back pain, just dull frontal pain. Any thoughts on what this could be? Is this…

First Post-Surgical Scans
Had my first post-op scans yesterday. All looks good in and around kidneys and lungs. Blood work slightly better with creatinine back down into high normal. Still got a stone in the other kidney, but it's been there over a year now and it doesn't seem to have grown. PA is not authorized to give cannabis recommend, but…

Blessedgirl94 question
Hi Blessedgirl, I am another in your cohort of surgery three years ago in June and July. You asked about follow ups - I have alternating scans, CT one year and ultrasound alternate year. There is concern about the contrast to do CT yearly (I only have one kidney). Labs every year but not chest xray. I asked my doc about…

Have you ever wondered...
who is on the other side of the screen when you communicate with people on this forum or the background of the person providing responses to your questions? Over the past three years, I've often wondered these things about the people on here--in essence, I've wondered about you. We're all bound by a common bond--RCC, but…
