Thank You
I have been reading the posts from you all today and wanted to send my thanks for thinking of me. I must admit to being in the darkest days of my life and wish more than anything that things were different. I did not see this coming. We were so prepared to fight for much longer. I am lucky to be surrounded by amazing…

Headed for HIPEC
Hi everyone, I hope you all are having a great holiday season despite the big C. It looks like I'll probably be having the HIPEC procedure done in January, barring any catastrophes. I've been speaking with Dr. Martin Goodman at Tufts Medical Center about this and he feels I'm a good candidate after seeing my CT scans. He…

Vanderbilt
My husband met with Dr. Emily Chan today. We consider it a very informative meeting! Basically, she agreed with my husband's MO that Erbitux is really the last and best first line of chemotherapy left. He is due to start back on chemo on 1/6/10. Erbitux & irinitan (sp). I did ask about the possibility of installing a HAI…

The rest of yesterday's story
I already posted my great news! According to my PET/CT, and my CEA of 2, I am considered NED! And I get a one week break over New Year's. I had a few questions answered about things that the ultrasound and CT had picked up - no worries on any of it. My liver function is back to normal for all numbers. Stopping the…

Mother of the Mayo Clinic
This is from my little blue Advent Book from church "In the early 19th century, a Catholic bishop traveled from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Luxembourg to preach at local parishes about the need for teachers in the United States, especially among Native Americans. Long Term Stage IV survival story
In March 1977 at age of 32 I was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer following a barium enema and subsequent surgery. I was told that no younger patient with same illness had been seen in our central Florida area to the doctors' knowledge (no prize given!). I had a 16" resection and spleenectomy and began a year-long…

Staying active
The studies and recommendations keep showing one of the best things we can do to be proactive after a colon cancer dx is to get exercise. Simple enough - something we actually DO have control over most of the time. Obviously not so much just after surgeries or tough chemo cycles, but once we are done with treatments this…

Holiday Diet Tips
1. If no one sees you eat it, it has no calories 2. If you drink a diet soda with a candy bar, they cancel each other out 3. If you eat standing up, it doesn't count! 4. STRESSED is just DESSERTS spelled backwards 5. If you eat the food off someone else's plate, it doesn't count 6, Cookie pieces contain no calories because…

While ai am happy to have abreak from chemo. In the back of my mind thoughts of the cancer running rampant through my body play out like a bad movie. I'm afraid all the progress we've made will dissappear during this month off . Am i just crazy or are these normal fears? Deb

Friday Christmas Joke
How Angels Came To Be Atop The Tree Santa was very cross. It was Christmas Eve and NOTHING was going right. Mrs Claus had burned all the cookies. The elves were complaining about not getting paid for the overtime they had while making the toys. The reindeer had been drinking all afternoon and were dead drunk. To make…
