UPDATE Would like the bus today in like 2 hours! Laugh-short notice???
It was the chemo, insurance denied it! I am on the fence for her2 and even though I have been on it for 16 months, Insurance said because the biopsy showed inconclusive in 2010 as far as -/+ they would not approve, and I can no longer get herceptin, even though that is what is believed to have kept me here this long. It…

Thinking Of Quitting Chemo! Help
Hi, my name is Christina and I am 30 years old. I was diagnosed with breast cancer back in October of last year. I started chemo the 1st of December. My doctor started me with Paclitaxel chemo, one dose every week. My last dose of Paclitaxel was on February 15th. I did very good on that type of chemo, meaning I had no…

My personal breast cancer blog - The pink demolition derby.
When I had my mammo and was called back for the ultra sound, I searched everywhere for somebody's "detailed step-by-step" story because for some reason I wanted to "match" my feelings with theirs, crazy as it sounds. Anyway...I started a blog in the event I was diagnosed with B.C. I knew in my heart, that someday it might…

Four-Wheel Drive Pink Bus Available?
I'm supposed to have my final round of chemo on Friday. They're calling for a winter storm here Tuesday into Wednesday that could lead to significant amounts of snow. I am so worried that I will not make it to my oncologist for labs on Thursday and that they will delay my chemo session on Friday. Anyone have a pink bus…

Taxoter & Cytoxan Second Round Today
Today is my Second Treatment of Taxoter & Cytoxan! Hopefully it goes the same as the First round. I can handle it if it's the same and it helps now that I know what to expect. I did lose my hair on Day 16 after First Treatment, it was coming out so bad that I just got a buzz hair cut. My hairdresser was almost in tears so…

Questions to Ask at Follow-up Appointments
It would seem that I should know, but I was wondering what types of questions do you go prepared to ask your oncologist when you have follow-up appointments? I have just begun the three-month cycle. This time I did not have to have any tests ahead of time; next time, I will have to have had blood work and a CT scan. What…

Info. about Tykerb
I am getting ready to finish up on my Herceptin treatments, and now my oco. is talking about putting me on Tykerb, he says he is using this, because of the type of breast cancer I have, more often than not goes to the brain, and that this medicine works as a barrier, to help keep my cancer from possibly spreading to the…

For rjporter: We're here if you need us
For rjporter: I replied to your post earlier this morning where you shared some difficulties and sadness in your life, but it looks like either you deleted your post just as I was replying, or perhaps there was a technical snafu of some kind, because I don't see your post anywhere now. I just wanted you to know that the…

Surgery is Scheduled
I have been scheduled for surgery on the 21st. All chemo is done for now. They will do a mastectomy and a lymphectomy on the right side. The surgeon said the lymphectomy is for insurance. The cancer was barely detectable in the lymph nodes and it is gone now, however, they are coming out just to be sure. She also wanted…

Stage III B.C.
After my modified radical mastectomy last Tuesday, doctor classified my BC as Stage III. They removed the axillary and sentinel nodes, and everything went well (I am not a fan of these drainage tubes for sure). I didn't know there were different "types" of "Stage III" when it comes to BC. Can anyone help me understand…

Latissimus Flap Surgery...what should I expect?
Hi, I'm new to this site although it's been almost 6 years since I was diagnosed with DCIS. I had 2 lumpectomies in the summer of 2007, which made little me littler. I was an almost B cup. Sooo....at my 5 year appointment with my surgeon I asked if I was a candidate for breast reconstruction and of course he said "yes". He…

Thinking and Missing ChenHeart tonight
Sending well wishes for our dear Chen. I miss her so much! I remember when I was a newbie here and reading her "Welcome to Hogwarts." It so perfectly captured how I was feeling. I wish there was something I could do to ease her way and help her heal. This horrible disease makes us so helpless sometimes. But Chen, please…

I saw the eye doc yesterday...
I wanted a second opinion because nothing was working with the original doc and she never seemed sure of herself and the treatments she was prescribing. This new doc is older, more confident, and more aggressive with treatment. His prescription is a stronger steroid drop every two hours I am awake. I go back in a week for…

Starting the new chemo for her 2+
As of yesterday (appt w/onco), I am starting the new chemo drug just released for her2 +, CADCYLA. Even with all of the black box warnings, we have decided to try it. The upped dose of Fentanyl has not had much effect with the pain in my back, ribs, legs etc. as it continues to increase. WE are hoping that this will…

I'm not sure the last time I was on here but it's been quite a while...almost a year. Checked for the status of some very inspirational women on here, 1 has passed and 1 is still fighting. I'm 2 1/2 years out from my original diagnosis in September 2010 and almost 2 full years from last treatment. So far, tests are showing…
