OT -- Daughter is back in the USA
Safe and sound. She flew in last night from Israel. PHEW! I've been scared and anxious with all the upheaval in that part of the world. Now, the wait begins from other daughter and her husband to fly in on December 15th. Thanksgiving with family tomorrow. Finished my deserts for the affair. Then ... I start the worrying…

???? How Did You Get Your Real Name and/or How Did You Pick Your Name On Here ????
I've always loved hearing how people got their names. Some of the stories of why their parents named them are meaningful, some are emotional and some are like " what were their parents smoking"? LOL And, I've always loved seeing the different names on here and wondered how you came up with them and why. So, why did your…

Update on the eggplant - having some fun...
I went back to my breast surgeon today for what I had hoped would be the last time (nope, she wants me back in a month, but all looks good.) I brought with me a sign I made for Exam Room 1 (where she always sees me.) It is a picture of a large eggplant, with Exam Room 1 written above. I put the sign up before I went into…

"Look Good - Feel Better"
Once again I haven't seen anything recently about the "Look Good - Feel Better" classes and we have a lot of 'Newbies' so thought I'd bring it up again. "Look Good - Feel Better" is through the ACS and local Cancer Centers - it is for women AND men. You will be taught about so much as to how to 'look good' and thus 'feel…

And so i wait again
Well I made it thru the second craniotomy with tumor disection in 4 months. I am home now, my head hurts, i am tired and weak. The follow up MRI was "inconclusive" and I am waiting for pathology reports. There is still some hope that the problems I experienced were from post craniotomy changes. But since doctors like to…

Allegory - "spread like a cancer" - how do you feel about it, your reaction
Dear survivors, please share your thoughts on a very sensitive issue. Very often cancer is used as an allegory in different contents. Tamoxifen and Wellbutrin
Hi I am new to this site and have been having problems getting some straight answers from "all" of my doctors on this issue. It has to do with taking Tamoxifen and Wellbutrin at the same time. I have been on both for one year and all my doctors had listed in their records that I was taking both but no warnings. Now the…

Genetic testing
I was DXed with DCIS in July 2009. Lumpectomy and brachytherapy went well. All subsequent semiannual mammograms have been A-OK. Now a new gynecologist is insisting that I get genetic testing. As with so many of us, I had no family history of breast cancer. I feel she is pushing this as part of some agenda she has, not for…

Happy News! I'm back on the ice!
I went and tried curling again tonight (that crazy sport of throwing stones down the ice while your teammates sweep madly). I was able to comfortably throw a few stones and sweep some other stones - no pain! This means I'll be able to join my team in a major tourney in Cleveland in 10 days! I'm not fully healed - still get…

Delayed Diagnosis Breast Cancer are you a victim?
Hello, curious to know if any breast cancer patients or survivors were delayed a mammogram, biopsy, aspiration, or MRI because your doctor did not feel there was a reason or diagnosed your masses on the spot as cyst, without further diagnostic workup or exams? If so I really want to hear from you. Or if you have any other…

Hi, new here. Just had bilateral mastectomy and want to know about swelling?
I found out in 1999 that I had LCIS from a stereotactic biopsy. In 2000, I had a lumpectomy to remove calcifications which were DCIS. At that time I had a partial mastectomy to get a clear margin. I had a lumpectomy in 2008 to remove calcifications which were benign. In October 2012 I had another lumpectomy which showed…
