This Privacy Statement relates to the American Cancer Society Cancer Survivors Network Web site. Members of the American Cancer Society Cancer Survivors Network Web site are those individuals who have registered on the American Cancer Society Cancer Survivors Network Web site. In addition to reviewing this Privacy Statement, Members should also review the User Agreement for the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the American Cancer Society Cancer Survivors Network Web site terms of conditions of which this Privacy Statement is subject.
The American Cancer Society Cancer Survivors Network (CSN) service is an interactive support community for cancer survivors and caregivers. To register on the CSN site, a valid email address and postal code is required. Your personal information is yours to control and every effort is made by ACS to protect it.

Data Collection

The forms on our site require registered members to provide a valid email address and postal code. Other personal information is requested, but not required. Such information may be used to provide you with personalized and matched content within the site; individual email inquiries may be forwarded to the appropriate ACS department for response. This information may be shared with our business partners on an aggregate basis only, with no identifiers. Information that is not used to directly support the service may be used in a research capacity to evaluate the benefits of this service. ACS does not share or sell any information that could be linked to your identity by third parties.

Data Security

In the parts of the site where personal information is entered and viewed, ACS has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. To ensure that the data transferred between your Web connection and ours is not viewed by anyone but you, powerful Web site encryption technology is used. The CSN Web server is located at a Rackspace web-hosting facility. Rackspace allows us to offer a high-speed, high-availability internet connection backed by redundant network infrastructure and advanced, security technologies. Physical access to the CSN Web server is restricted only to the Rackspace support staff, and remote administrative access to the web and database servers is limited to a few ACS employees. All data entered in the CSN database is regularly backed up and the backup media is securely stored to prevent loss or damage.

Contacting Our Users

We do not provide our members’ contact information to any outside parties without the customer's express consent.

Modification and Deletion of Submitted Information.

Please contact CSN via email at CSNSupportTeam@cancer.org to request modification and/or deletion of any information you submit to our site. While CSN will work diligently to honor your request, CSN reserves the right to deny the request in instances where it is not legally required or may compromise the site.

IP Address Collection

The CSN Web site automatically collects your IP address when you visit. We use this information for market and demographic trending purposes with no identifiers. In situations where a member has violated the site rules, a member’s IP address may be used to report behavior that threatens ACS property or the welfare of members of the CSN community.
