Back ache during scan

in Colorectal Cancer #1

Am I the only one that gets a piercing sharp pain in my mid back when I take a deep breathe and hold during a scan?

The first few times I thought, do I have a new tumor, but I have had a lot of scans since the first time, and now I am just worried I will mess up the scan.

Any hints on holding breath without backache? :)

    Positioning?

    Have you had it since the beginning of first scans or more recent development?  Sometimes pain can be on positioning in the tube. A pulled muscle or other things may make you feel it.  Sometimes breathing in quickly can cause it.  Try some breathing exercises before next scan.  Easy and slow through the nose, into your belly, then gently out of the mouth (Yoga type breathing).  Perhaps a pillow or rolled blanket under the small of your back or shoulder.  You may even be tensing up a bit expecting the pain once you had it happen the first time.
