Leiomyosarcoma 2021

All the LMS threads are kind of old, so I thought we could start a new one and see how everyone is doing and what you are doing.

I was diagnosed with LMS in July 2018 in my left kidney which was the size of a football.  Surgerically removed the kidney but the disease had started to spread and margins were positive.  So I did 6 cycles of chemo: Week 1 - Gemzar.  Week 2 - Gemzar and Docetaxl.  Week 3 - rest.  Then in May 2019, a spot in my lung started to grow which was resected out in October 2019.  Then December 2019, scans showed spead again.  Since August 2020, I have been in a clinical trial for Yondelis (chemo) with Opdivo and Yervoy (immunotherapy) which has been going well.  Growth has stopped, and I am tolerating the treatments very well.  Thank you science!

My journey has also included a lot of healing work through meditation, energy healing like Reiki, and excellent nutrition.  I am living a full life with love, a new husband, good friends, working full time, and finding more joy in life going through treatment in the midst of a pandemic than I ever had previously.  it's been one of those truly transformational journeys that you hear cancer patients having.  I am so grateful for the personal growth and love that has come my way through all this.

What about you? How are you doing?
