Having problem with bowels

in Anal Cancer #1

Soon to be 3 years in May. Still having problems with my bowels. I can't seem to empty them. I don't hurt, but I know I haven't pooped enough. I see my colon Dr. next week. Not sure what my problem is. I get up every morning hoping to have a some what normal movement. The anxiety is awful. Anyone have this problem?

    Brenda,have you tried Metamucil? It suppose to help with Irregularity...either way. My problem is exactly opposite to yours, my doctor prescribed it to me, but after using it for several weeks I am still not sure if it is helpful. 

    Some people swear by it...

    I use Marilax and stool softeners. I had to use Dulcolax twice in a month to clean out. Not sure what's going on down there.  I have a problem with constipation.

    Supplements

    Without some type of fiber supplement I seem to have the same issue of not emptying completely or harder stools that cause bleeding.  After trying several types, I finally found a daily Fibercon capsule that works but doesn’t cause so much gas. My colorectal doctor said that women have more side effects from fiber supplements than men. Of course it works that way.....anyway, maybe try different types of fiber and see if any of them help making regular stools?

    If I drank a glass of miralax every night, i go first thing in the morning. It's not like it was before cancer. I have to go 2 or 3 times in an hour. Very annoying. Don't know why I can't just go once and done.

    Yes, my Docter said to use Mirlax. I go two or three times as well in the morning.

    Feb 5th it will be a year and i still have problems and was told it would take years before it would be normal. I can never empty my bowels all at once on different meds to help but then im going all day long..its either all day or go 4 to 7 days w no bowel movements...cant win. Dont think ill be the same i had 75% of rectum and 7 inches of colon removed had bag for 4 mos then reversed. Im happy and lucky to be alive but so miserable....
