Another Chapter in my H&N Journey-9/13/2019 Update

New Update 9/13/2019

 

I will try to keep this and future updates as brief as possible but with enough information.

 

Tuesday, Sept 10, We met with my physician from Hershey Med. PA, Dr. Guy Slonimsky at Hershey-Penn State Health Lime Spring Outpatient Center Lancaster, PA.

I had a thorough checkup and was scoped to check my throat inside. They gathered all my information, past treatment, doctor's, etc. and are going to receive my images from my recent CAT scan-with dye and my PET scan. It will then be reviewed by their cancer/tumor board and decided which is the best treatment.

 

Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, I had a PET Scan (Positron-emission tomography) which is done to see if cancer is anywhere else in the body.

 

Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, my ENT called with my PET Scan results-good news and answered prayers-NO cancer anywhere else just in the area we know about-neck lymph nodes.

 

I soon go to Hershey med for biopsy preoperative consult and whatever it involves which may be blood tests, etc.

 

Then sometime after that, I go to Hershey med for Laryngoscopy and biopsy.

    Great news on the pet Russ. Now your medical team can focus on your treatment and rid this from you. Prayers your way.

    Hi Russ,

    I wanted to let you know that although I go for long periods without posting, that I have followed your journey closely and pray for you. I also admire your sincere concern for others here on the forum and for your love of God. 

    I just went through a big scare myself...possible metastisis to my lumbar spine. That could have been a rough one. Luck was on my side this time and after both a CT Scan and a follow up MRI, the test result came out this morning that no cancer was in my spine. Praise the LORD.

    I am rooting and praying for you big time!

    And Prayers. I am so glad for you that your scans showed no metastasis. News like that is such a blessing and a relief. God was certainly watching over you. Thanks for your rooting and praying I am thankful for so many folks being there for me-Take care-God Bless-Russ

    Hello Russell,

    I like what I see in your plan (as if CivilMatt knows anything relevant to cancer treatment). Well, anyway, I do like what I see.  Your team is responding to your need in a timely and through manner. As many of us experienced, “once your treatment number comes up, it is all hands on deck, let’s do it!” You will have this chapter in your book, behind you and under your belt very soon AND we can discuss how you are doing. Matter-of-fact, if you please, could you briefly give me a “snap-shot” of your location and your drive to treatment and any caregivers you have. I like to try and put myself in your shoes, when I think about your treatment. If  I am out-of-place, then as my Father used to say, “drive a stake in him” and be done with me.

    One more thing, have they ruled out the rads entirely for this-go-a-round?  They (treatment team, radiation oncologist) somehow squeeze a few more zaps in for some H&N members.

    The weather has changed and it is going to rain all day here in the Willamette Valley and be in the mid 60’s.

    going there soon and am glad my team has a welcome sign out for me. Hope that includes the parking space too. Hey were you there and took a picture? Did you meet any of my docs? They have not completely ruled out rads as of yet. Meeting with my doc he gave me a good check over and I think many things are still on the table-surgery, chemo, immunotherapy, possible rads, and maybe more I am not sure what is available but I think they are considering all the options to give the best results and the best outcome.

    For your confidence in me, I got it. I feel I am in good hands and will be taken good care of by Hershey med. H&N. Like you say and I agree to get through this and back to living well again Take care-God Bless
