Black skin on anal tags and vagina

Hi I am an eight years survivor. I have not been on here in quite some time.  It took  Eight years for me to get to my new normal and I’m loving every day of it. FOr anybody out there who is suffering,  hang in there,  it does get better.

 

I have never recovered from the radiation dermatisis,  my skin is very red there and open sores still occasionally pop up.  One day recently when it was particulary irritated,  i decided to take a peek down there.  I found a lot of black skin on the skin tags and outlining my vagina and on the lips as well.  

 

Has anyone else had these side effects?

    Hi!  I have missed seeing you here and have often wondered how you were doing.  It sounds like you are doing quite well and enjoying life!  As for the black skin, I'm not sure what to make of that, but I think it might be a good idea to have your gyno take a look, just to give you peace of mind that it's nothing of concern.  I certainly hope that's the case.  Please keep us posted.  Take good care.

    Hi, after treatment for

    Hi, after treatment for colorectal cancer, and after a month or so, I took a large mirror and looked at everything well. It was very frightening

    My outer and inner labia have changed a lot. Like you, they're dark purple... almost black. They are thinner as well. My urethra is lower, too.

    It's been several months since my radiation treatments. Still, I doubt things will change at 58! It was shocking to see how my body was affected in my groin. I accept it though. It could be worse!

    Thank you for your post. Being as far out as you gives the rest of us hope. I am 8 months post treatment. I have been told by my surgeon that I also have anal skin tags. Is this something you have always had since treatment? Also I still have bleeding with bowel movements. Is this normal! My three month scan was good told cured but anxious about my 8 month scan. Do you ever stop worrying? I was stage 2 with no lymph node involvement. 

    Please let me know what you find out about your skin tags and color as this us something I will also be living with.  Wishing you the very best!

    My skin color has also changed to quite a bit darker.  I am 5 months post treatment now.  But do get it checked just so you don't worry about it.

    Wow!  I feel so  much better knowing that other people have the same experience with the darkening skin. I am still getting sores down there and I guess that’s where the darkening skin is coming from. I am going to see my gyno  now. About the worrying: I never worried, I always believed that I would be cured.  For me the bleeding was normal but you should still consult with your oncologist.  My best advice  is to appreciate this new life that you have been given and live it to the fullest and never look back.
