Lactose allergies/intolerance

SO I am about 9 months post-treatment and was having a lot of issues with urgency and bleeding in the morning.  It would always seem to be a bigger issue when I had dairy.  I wondered why after  my morning protein shake (whey protein isolate).   It should not contain much whey but I hear people still have issues with it.  Anyway, cheese on a sandwhich and 30 minutes later I was about crapping myself.  I have cut out dairy as best I could and the bleeding has gone away.  I think high sugars may bother me as well.  Has anyone else experienced anything similar?  Trying to fine tune my diet now.  So hard to gain weight with no dairy and no sugars anymore.

Thanks

Joe

    Lactose

Yes, I found that lactose gave me diarrhea and even bloody stools. I am two and a half years out and I can eat much more fruits and veggies than right after radiation but occasionally they still give me diarrhea. I avoid lactose but can eat Greek yogurt (it has less lactose than regular yogurt). I drink LActaide milk. Fried and greasy food are almost guaranteed to give me diarrhea. I cut way, way back on sugar and feel much better. For me I think sugar makes my blood sugar spike and then crash so I just feel better only eating sweets a few times a month. I remember someone on this site talked about a conference she attended on anal cancer - maybe with Dr. Eng- where they talked about lactose intolerance being fairly common after the radiation.

I seem to have issues with fried foods, not all the time, but most times.  Dairy has not been a problem for me.
