Please disregard my previous post (copy and paste did not work!).

I only meant to post that I reached the 10-year mark on Sunday without much fanfare or celebration, aside from a piece of carrot cake at Golden Corral.  The day was spent riding in the car, heading back home from a very busy and exhausting week cleaning out my mom's house.  Now that we are home, I guess we need to prepare for the after effects of Hurricane Florence.  I guess that's normal life.  On to the next 10 years.

    Martha....

Yay!!!!  It is so very encouraging to hear of long time survivors and really gives hope to those in the midst of this journey! I wish I was there to celebrate with you but I've been thinking about you and how very much your experience and inspiration has contributed to all of us on this forum.

In some cases having a low key "every day life" celebration such as the day you had is really the best...it means life can be normal again with all the good and bad that normal is and that is something to smile about. I bet you enjoyed the carrot cake!

I will have you in my prayers for many more years of health as well as safety from the literal storm (Florence)...

Hi Martha! Isn't it great that such an amazing milestone be lost in everyday life? That is truly the best sign of recovery that anyone could wish for! & surely the best celebration.

    Take care with Florence

    Congratulations, Martha!

Congratulations! It's been a long road with bumps along the way but you've handled those bumps with grace and courage.

I'm right behind you - October is my 10 year anniversary of finishing chemo and radiation. Still have bowel issues and other inconveniences but for the most part things are very good.

    Congratulations again, Martha!!!

Thank you for the congratulations and I send them to you too for your upcoming 10-year anniversary!  Like you, there are still issues, but nothing I can't deal with.  I wish you all the best as you reach the 10-year mark.  Please post when that happens so I can congratulate you again!

First congratulations on your ten years of NED! And thank you for still posting after all that time, we are lucky to have experienced people in this forum. I’m sorry about the cleaning out your mom’s house- did she pass away or have to move to a nursing home? Either way it is physically and emotionally exhausting to close a house down of someone you love. Sending positive thoughts your way

Thank you so much for the congrats and your kind comments.  I appreciate that so much!  As for my mom, she lives near us in an assisted living home and will never go back to her own home, so it's time to let it be home to someone else.  It has been physically and emotionally exhausting to go through decades of memories--seems she kept everything.  I hope you are doing well.  Thanks again for your kind thoughts!

I’m sorry you have had to close down your mom’s home. The year before I got diagnosed with anal cancer both my parents died and I had to close down an enormous house and get it sold. It was exhausting and emotional. I even think I had so much stress that year that it might have affected my immune system and escalated the growth of the cancer. I hope your work cleaning out your mom’s home is finished and she is adjusting to the assisted living she is in now.

Thank you so much.  I'm sure this will all be behind me soon and I will be feeling much better about it all.  So many people go through this as parents age.  I do agree that it's very possible that such stress can have an effect on a person's immune system.  Thank you for your concern about my mom--she is doing well, all things considered.  Take care.

Thank you for the congrats and your sweet comment!  I don't consider myself a hero, I think I'm just too stubborn to go away.  Smile  I hope you are doing well, my friend!

Great News on your 10 years of NED.  I hope your hurricane clean up will go smoothly.  I went through Hurrican Irma last year and was lucky to just have limbs fall from the trees, nothing major, just free tree trimming for the weak limbsCool.

Thank you so very much!  I am very happy to hear from you!  It was a relief to get good news on my last exam, knowing that I would reach the 10-year mark.  As for hurricane damage, we had none, thankfully, but thanks for thinking of me.  I hope you are doing well!  Hugs!

    Congrats!

Thank you for being here for everyone. Whether you accept it or not you are the back bone of this group. Although after 5 years I don’t post too much I check in almost every day. Thank you so much again and wish you a wonderful future.

Hi Laz!  Thank you so much for your kind comments.  I am very humbled by them.  However, like you, I don't post as much or as often as I used to.  Since moving my mother closer to me, I have been spending more and more time with her, as she will be 94 next month and has dementia.  I do, though, check in here daily and comment when I think of something helpful to say.  Honestly, after 10 years post-treatment, some things have been forgotten, which I guess is a good thing.  Thank you for always being a supportive friend to me on this board and to many others as well.  Your insight and experiences, based on your own journey, have helped all of us march on!  I admire you a great deal!  I hope you are doing well and I wish you all the best!

    Happy TENTH!

    Martha,

Congratulations on celebrating this major milestone!

Thank you for your diligent contributions to this CSN space and supportive words to all who come to share our experiences and darkest fears.

It sounds like it has been quite a tiring time for you with clearing out your mother's home and hurricane cleanup, so I hope you get some rest and time to replenish your reserves.

Thank you for the congrats and your kind words.  I appreciate it so very much!  Yes, I am tired as I continue to get my mother's house ready to be sold.  Thankfully, I had no hurricane effects at my house, but thank you for thinking of me!  I hope you are doing well!  Hugs!
