Neulasta side effects

Options

Has anyone had severe reactions to Neulasta?  Deep Bone pain, severe headaches, severe pelvic pain, fever.

I'm on a 4 AC and 4 Taxol regime every other week.  Had number 6 yesterday.  Number 5 was so bad, I almost didn't go back.  I didn't have to have the Neulasta yesterday due to elevated WBC.  This has happened each time, so I skip Neulasta every other time.  I'm waiting to see how I feel for the next three days.  Symptoms usually kick-in two days after chemo or a day after Neulasta.  If I don't have the symptoms, I will assume it's the Neulasta, although I have started Claritin the day before, then continuing for several days.  Didn't know about the Claritin until a few days after treatment number 5.

    To Godismystrength about Neulasta

I had a severe reaction when I was given Neulasta at my first chemo session.  Severe bone pain and neurological pain.  I didn't understand the bit about taking claritin, so I didn't, and the pain was so severe that I couldn't move around.  When I saw my onc for the post-chemo evaluation session, I was a mess.  For this reason, he upped my pain meds (I already have a chronic pain condition) and did not prescribe Neulasta for the 2nd round of chemo.  It was much better, frankly, without the neulasta, although I would take it again if I need it medically.  Oh, and you might want to take the claritin more than 5 days....I've heard of the pain starting even 8 or 9 days after its administration.

    oh those were tough....

I had 4 of them.  Ugh, I would get chills to the bone and there was no way of warming up.  Claritin does eas the symptoms.

Prayers of better times for you.

    Keep on fighting warrior

    Hugs

I did not get it with the

I did not get it with the first cycle of TCHP, but had to go in for re-hydration and my blood work showed a neutrophil count of only 2 (very low).  Had to take anti-biotics.  Next three times I got the Neulasta.  Severe bone pain (used ice packs).  Every time after about a week on Neulasta, I got a sore throat and lost my voice.  Also, a big bruise the last time.  I had to quit it all after four cycles.  Better luck to you !

I had bone pain with Neulasta

I had AC/Taxol treatment 3 years ago and am going to start chemo in a couple of days for a reoccurence.  I had Neulasta last time and will be having it again.  My infusion nurses suggested I take one Claritin the day of chemo and the next couple of days.  This really made a difference with my bone pain.  I know it is too late to help Godismystrength, but maybe someone else will be helped with this.

Made me feel like I'd been beaten with a baseball bat and tossed down a flight of stairs.  Glad I dont' have to do that anymore!

    Severe Body aches and pain

I just had my first round of Taxol and Neulasta a week ago Friday. I have been in so much pain like I was hit by a bus. I called my nurse and she suggested taking ibuprofen and claritin. This pain has just about made me feel like giving up. I have 3 more treatments to go and I would rather not feel this way everyday. I am currently still working and I actually thought these treatments would've been better than the A/C treatments with the extreme fatigue. So I come in to work only to leave early to go home and rest. Why does the Neulasta cause this discomfort? I didn't feel this way when I was on the A/C and Neulasta. I just want to feel better!!!

Patriot_Mom I can relate. I do not like this at all. And to think... this was suppose to be much better than the first half of A/C.
