I was diagnosed with breast cancer the end of 2015.  I only needed radiation treatments, which I completed in March of 2016.  Since then I've been extremely sensitive to mosquito bites.  They swell up like crazy.  My Dr. can't really explain why this is happening to me now, I never had this problem before my cancer.  Anyone else have this issue?  I have serveral prescription oinmnets.  I take allergy pills after I've been bitten for the itching.

    Caregiver for my husband

My husband is in remission from acute myeloid leukemia. The problem is now when ever he has a pain he thinks the cancer is coming back. I just try to tell him that it isn't. But he can't get it out of his mind. It is really putting a strain on our marriage any ideas.

Caregiver or couples cancer support group

Hi Maggie, you may want to check into support groups for caregivers and/or one for couples/families facing cancer. I found it gave me resources on how to address issues such as what you're experiencing. I've had BC twice and know a lot of people who have mets. So, it took me a long time to understand and accept that not every pain means I have cancer again. His oncologist could also offer some insight as well.

As for the insect bites, if I get more than a couple at a time, I found that they get huge and swell. Not to mention insane itching. My doctor said that as one ages, one can develop more of an allergy to various bites/stings. All I can do is take Benedryl if needed or apply topical creams or sprays. I was warned that if I feel my throat is closing or I have trouble breathing, to go to the ER.

    Fun times. NOT! :)
