and the hair struggle continues....

Trying to cling to what you had and accepting the reality of what you are now can just bite.   7 months out of treatment, my hair still sucks big time.  I thought, ok I will get it colored and a new cut.  That went to the curb really fast.  The color did not grab in all places and the cut did not lay right.  At least I did not cry this time over it.  I just threw my hands in the air and said some not so nice words.  So...here I go again, I am going to crop it about a couple inches off my head and start over again.

Cancer...that nasty white elephant gift that no one deserves or needs ever!

Hugs,

Annie

    Sounds like a plan!

Hi, Annie.  I thought of doing the same thing.  I am over a year out of active treatment.  While my hair did come back well, it is much thinner than before.  Also, lately I find I am losing more and it seems to be breaking midway in length.  I have not yet gotten it cut since treatment ended, and I wonder if never cutting off that initial growth has caused damage to strands now.  Couple that with the AI, and again I can not determine the cause.

You are a problem solving thinker.  I like your bravery and willingness to take a chance!

    All the best,

    Kathy

    thanks...glad I am not alone...

Thanks Kathy, while I am sorry your having simular hair issues, it is nice to know I am not alone in the struggle.  I did cut mine a little prior to this time, it did not help.  I believe it is like every other part of our bodies, it has to heal and it takes a long long time.  If we are lucky we will get a complete healing.  Until then, my new wig comes tomorrow.  I will be like the movie stars and have different hair all the time!  LOL

    Hugs,

    Annie

    Hair

Hi Annie, I am in the same boat with my hair. It looks simply horrible!  What came in looks dead and lifeless and it is impossible to do anything with it. I have a wig, but I hate it. I don’t even want to go out anymore because I look so sick with dead hair. I hate ti see winter ending, because at least when I went out I could wear hats. Ugh. This too shall pass. I don't think my hair will ever be the same again.

    Hair

I've given up. Until I'm off meds I'll keep it super short :)
