scary possibilities

Hello - I had a CT scan at an Emergency Room for a kidney stone.  The ER doctor said yes, that the CT scan revealed the kidney stone.  I go to the urologist who again views the CT scan and says that he also saw a cyst on the ovary (I am post-menopausal) and a spot on the lung.  I am seeking follow-up with other specialists but what I would like to know is :  If a cyst on the ovary and a spot on the lung are present at the same time, does that mean that ovarian cancer could have spread to the lung?

Again, I will be following-up with my gynecologist and a lung specialist, but this sure has been a long, anxious weekend!

Any thoughts would be most appreciated!

THanks.

    Possibilities

    Hi Violin,

Sorry you're having these issues.  It's always scary when you don't know what is going on.

There are 4 stages of ovarian cancer and the more advanced stage can involve spread to the lungs.  That, however, does not mean you have ovarian cancer, but I understand how your mind will take you there. The wating game is always unnerving, but unfortunately, there is not an alternative.  Try to take it one day at a time and try not to worry until you know there is something to worry about.

Keep us posted.  I hope your tests show that these spots that showed up are something minor.

    Hang in there.
