in Colorectal Cancer #1

Had port removed finally this Wednesday Nov. 22/17 @ 3:30pm. Thank God it's over for now. Well, it should only takes 20-30 minutes for removal but it took him (surgeon) almost 45minutes, and gave me more injection for numbness because I could still feel the pain while he was working on it. Now I am sore. My chest, right shoulder and neck are kind of in pain. I am taking Tylenol for pain since he didn't prescribe me anything for the pain. Well, overall, it's done. My husband and I had a great Thanksgiving. Thanking God Almighty for this blessing. One at a time, and take it easy whatever comes, we'll get through it for better or for worse. Believe in Him. God bless us all

    So happy that you have had your port removed. 

    Mine also took a while to get out, as scar tissue had developed around it. There were lots of needle pokes and pulling. I talked the poor surgeon's ear off, because I was so nervous. But, isn't it wonderful when its all over?!!!

    I am happy to hear you enjoyed your Thanksgiving. Now I wish for you the best years ahead, NED.

    I think that it would be a relief to hit this milestone as it's obviously a long journey to this point. Congratulations on getting there and may you be NED forever. It sounds like you got to enjoy your thanksgiving as well.

    Thanks, Sue and Mike!! I am overjoyed, especially my husband...he was more thrilled than I was!! He had done a whole lot for me!! The best husband ever! Thank God. Yes, it feels so good to get that port out of my chest. It made me feel lighter and happy. My next doctor's visit is on Jan. 5/18 which is good, it will give me time to heal and get back in shape. So far I'd gained 10 pounds already. My goal is 120 the most (hopefully soon) May our Good Lord bless us all everyday and heal everyone of us and all be cancer free. I love you all!!

    if you don't have problems

    if you don't have problems with stomach bleeding/ulcers- and can take ibuprofren they claim that 400 mg of ibuprofren and 500 mg of tylenol together work better than opioids for controlling pain- by a pretty good amount too, but I don't know as i can't take ibupofren myself due to ulcers that bleed-

    So happy for you. Congratulations on a wonderful milestone! I had my port since 2012. If all goes well on my next scans (Feb 2018) I will get my port removed as well. I thought I would be out and wake up when it was all done. Eek. I don’t like being awake for stuff like that.

    Phil, you are funny! Taking it out is no big deal while you're awake, it's the injection for numbness that I was scared of. But when it got numbed I was relaxed, can't feel anything at all, and there will be a nurse next to you talking and making conversation with you. I was so scared when the removal schedule date was getting closer. I recommend for you to apply the emla cream around your chest so you won't feel the injections at all. It was my surgeon's suggest. It does help a whole lot. God bless us all.
