Taxol stopped

My partner- TNBC- had 4 treatments of AC and then started Taxol Weekly. Scheduled for 12 but unfortunately she had a reaction after 5 of them and the Dr said "no more" due to possible risk to kidneys, liver, etc. she is very upset as she feels she did not do her part and that the cancer will be back. Dr assured us that continuing treatments beyond this might result is some serious health issues and that finishing only increased her survival chances by 1-2%. Is there anyone else who had to stop treatments early? Comments welcomed.

    Taxol

Hi, I didn't finish all 12 Taxol infusions due to neuropathy and declining liver function. It's natural for your partner to feel upset. I did too. Worried that the treatments I did have wouldn't be enough. I'm now almost a year out from all treatment and doing well. Be glad the doctor keeps tabs on everything and doesn't want to do more damage than it's caused already. She'll need those organs to live the healthiest life possible after treatment. Good luck. Wishing you all the best.

    Hi WNC7,  My Taxol was

Hi WNC7,  My Taxol was stopped after 9 infusions; I was supposed to have 12.  Mine were also stopped because of neuropathy.  I also felt weirdly "cheated" or somehow lacking (not sure what that's about), but I had radiation waiting for me, so I was just glad to be feeling better and bracing myselft for what lay ahead.  My MO said those 3 extra doses weren't worth the damage being done to my hands & feet.  I still have the neuropathy, but I'm cancer free, so I had enough Taxol to do the job  (so far, so good).I'm sure your partner will put it behind her and move on.  Best wishes to you.

I could not do it either...

I could not handle it either due to my neuropathy.  Just not worth the risk.  They went right to Herceptin last fall and yesterday was my last treatment.  Tell her not to beat herself up at all.  It is what it is.  Not worth risking a limb for.

    Hugs,

    Annie

I also had to stop Taxol

Before I had all of the recommended treatments, due to neuropathy. My oncologist wasn't too worried about it. I am an 8 year survivor, hope that is a help!
