Continuing itching

in Breast Cancer #1

Hi everyone.I have not been on here for awhile.Done with treatments and surgery.Had my yearly scans and mamo.They came back clean.Thank God.Doing good except for one issue of itching.Mostly at night.I have changed soap powder different bath soap.Tryed a lot of different lotions.Nothing helps.Dr. Said she thinks it is side effects from Chemo.Wondering if anyone else can relate.This has been going on for several months.Seams to be getting worse.No it's not bug bits lol.Any help would be appriatte.Thank you.God bless.

    I get itchy all over at times.  I do think it is the chemo.  I soak in the tub and only use Dial soap.  I towel off well.  Then I put a non perfumed lotion on.  I take a benadrly and it seems to help.

    Glad to see you back and doing well!  The only time I had itching like that was an allergic reaction. If your chemo is over, seems like it wouldn't be affecting you that way. If you can, see an allergist.  Best wishes!

    Claritin?

    I remember taking Claritin to help with chemo SE during treatment.  It may help with the itchiness.  Even if it is allergy related it may help.  We are so vulnerable - I know I have allergies that I never experienced before chemo. I now have a whole list of antibiotics that I can no longer use.  I keep saying it is like someone else's blood is now flowing through my veins.  More drugs, more " don't even think about eating/drinking that!"

    hoping you can find the source.  I remember once my daughter had a terrible reaction to a bug bite.  The pediatrician said, " You may never know what kind of bug it was."   The only thing you can do is journal foods and  experiences to find the culprit.

    HI! Sorry you are having trouble with itching. i don't want to scare you, but I have read that itching after breast cancer diagnosis can mean something serious. Has your doctor run full blood tests?  I hope you get some answers, but I would not just let it go if it persists.

    what does itching means

    HapB, I am scared about your words.  I have itching in the suture areas of my left breast which up to this moment it is supposed to be clean.  Please enlighten me.  For the docs, it is something on no importance.  For me it is because the area around the nipple is bleeding, I don't know if for scratching or unnatural bleeding.  Thank you.

     I sure didn't mean to frighten you! Itching around a healing wound is totally expected. I was referring to itching for no known reason. I also have itching around my incisions. I wouldn't worry about that!

    It is interesting to read this about the itching. HapB your words are scary! I am a recent survivor of very early detected cancer and still on my reconstruction journey. I have not had to have chemo or radiation but get the itchy sensation in my back near my shoulder blades quite frequently. I never really realated it to my surgery or the cancer.

    Were you ever dx with shingles?

    My shingles surfaced during treatment.  Post treatment I have had episodes of itching along my back.  I have read that the shingles virus tends to "live" along the spine.  Just throwing another thought out there.

    I did not mean to scare anyone, sorry. We all get itches here and there. If there is persistent and prolonged  new itching with other symptoms,  let your doctor know.  I did not mean to scare anyone.

    Hey there....

     Most of us are concerned and encouraging.  It is a very long, hard, and emotional road we did not choose.   Most of the time, one or more of us has been there or done that.  We open up to the post to give many different opinions, thought, or suggestions in a loving way.  I have not meant anyone on here that means to scare or hurt anyone.  We always encourge ea. other to contact their doctors and to let us know what the outcomes are.  We do that so we know how the person is doing and to find out if your answers you get can help us or others.  We are a community that care.  I know that i know, that Hap cares very much and would never intend to scare you.  She has been here and done this many times, and bless her heart, she is fighting again to save her life.

    I have been doing too much internet research and I surely did not mean to scare anyone! So sorry. This whole experience has made me a little hyperfocused on cancer!
