Running out of hope

Options

When you're afraid of losing someone you love so dearly, you do everything in your power to help them. My sister has been fighting stage 4 npc for 1 1/2 year now. The primary site is between her eyes & its the size of a baseball. It has metatases to her spine & liver. She also has multiple liver cysts on her liver which one of them ruptured in January of 2017. She has gotten a second opinion at MD Anderson & received some disappointing news as they have no new treatment plans for her. She was advised to go to China if she wanted to learn more about the disease. At this point she has done chemo & immunotherapy. Radiation & surgery has been ruled out because of her health. She's too fragile due to cachexia & her blood count is low. Her legs & stomach is very swollen. She is also in a lot of pain. Her doctor is planning to get her back on chemo.

It's very hard when she is so limited to the kind of treatments she can received. So we reached out to a Cancer center in China & was denied due to my sister's health. She wouldn't make it on the long flight & because of cachexia.

Next we tried to get her on some kind of clinical trails & contacted National Cancer Institute & was again denied due to the bone metatases.

At the moment we're looking into brachytherapy & am waiting to hear back. I don't know where else to look as we have explore all options that we have researched on. She is constantly in & out of the hospital and I'm just trying to hang on to HOPE but it's so hard when you keep getting denied, denied, denied! God please my sister needs a miracle! She's only 36 and has told us she wants to live a long life. It's so sad & we haven't even told her all the bad news yet. We're not planning to tell her unless she asks. Please pray for my sister!

    Prayers lifted

I am sorry your sister and those who love her are going through this.

It sounds as though all that is possible is being done.

    Cancer is a beast.

    So you sister hasn't been

So you sister hasn't been told how ill she is?  Why not?

http://kriscarr.com/  She is a woman who was diagnosed with stage IV liver and lung cancer in 2003.  If nothing else, she is inspirational.  She made a documentary called Crazy, Sexy Cancer and I think you can find it on youtube.  She is quite amazing.

    Lots of prayers.  Loving

Lots of prayers.  Loving someone so much can be so wonderful and so painful.  I agree with Tonita.  Kris Carr has some very inspirational and helpful blogs and videos and books.

    Thank you everyone for the

Thank you everyone for the prayers as we desperately need it. As of now, my sister is still in the hospital due to pain. The pain medication that were prescribed to her is not potent enough. she rather stay at the hospital but the pain medication causes her to go in & out. That's how much pain she is in. As soon as she is out, we will get her to Cancer Center of America in Arizona & go from there. I hope they have a treatment plan for her otherwise she will just continue another regimen of chemo.

Thank you Tonita for that link. It gives me a little bit of hope & I have shared it with my other sisters. The thing is NPC is an aggressive cancer while Kris' cancer is a slow growing cancer. Nonetheless it was helpful information
