Ongoing nausea

I am really glad that you posted this.  We are in the midst of deciding whether to do the last round of chemo.  Can I ask, do you know what dosage your husband had each time? Was he nauseated each time or just this time? I know it accumulates each time.  We had the exact same meds that your husband has as well.  PLus the last time I insisted that he had an extra dose of dexamethasone via IV along with fluids every day.  He did OK this last time but was heavily medicated with steroids and anti nausea meds, etc... Not sure if he will be that lucky and he wants to go back to work 2 weeks after the last chemo.  Plus the Cisplatin totally messes with his kidneys.  

  Congratulations on your husband's final treatment!!  I bet it's a wonderful feeling.  I hope he is feeling better and soon!

I do not know his Cisplatin dosage. I know they said it was the highest dose possible.  1st round, he did ok with the nausea. 2nd round, nausea kicked his butt. This 3rd round is kicking what is left of his butt. He has gotten 2 bags of fluids everyday since last Tuesday. His creatinine level is being stubborn and sticking at 1.5 so they have ordered continued fluids for this week as well. The nurse practioner told us today that this round of nausea is due to the cumulative effect of the chemo but should start to abate sometime this week. 

Mmdowns, I have followed your posts regarding your husband and my heart breaks for you both. This is such a  hard treatment to get through. I hope he knows how lucky he is to have you in his corner.

My goodness. Your husband's story sounds almost identical to mine. And thank you for your lovely words. I hope

your husband knows how lucky he is as well. my husband had the highest dosage possible and the side effects were immediate.  Second dose was lowered by almost half. New side effects like acid reflux almost like a weird form of nausea and horrible thrush was the joys of that dosage. Lots of steroids which resulted in mood swings. Fluids everyday. Creatinine levels last Tuesday was 2.23. Worst it's ever been. went down to 1.3 the next day but I guarantee it'll be high again because we don't do fluids over the weekend.  So much to think about and decide. We just don't want to leave this medical journey and start another one with kidneys. I do hope your husband starts to feel better. Nausea is such a horrible feeling. Keep us posted. Just wondering why no fluids over the weekend?  We go the hospitals ambulatory care clinic for his fluids.

im not sure. I guess that's not an option?  we get a talking to when he comes in and the kidneys are wonky.  It's a roller coaster.  i wish he could though. Maybe I'll ask this week.
