My CT showed thickening, vaginal cuff. Has anyone had this?

I'm new here and scared.
I had endometrial cancer, stage 1b, grade 3 in the fall of 2013. I had brachytherapy. My CA-125 went up 14 points so my oncologist ordered a CT scan. It showed "increased asymmetric soft tissue density at the left vaginal cuff concerning for possible local recurrence" Have any of you had a recurrence from this kind of finding? They play to do a biopsy.
Thanks!

    Hi there tough times....

I haven't experienced this but wanted to say hi and let you know that the gals here are so great about checking the board and I'm sure someone will be along very soon with some great info.

I'm sorry you had to find us but I've found such comfort being able to share with people who "get" it.  We'll be here if you have questions, need to vent, need some support- whatever!

Hang in there- you've got this.  (((HUGS)))

    Tough Times, I have not

Tough Times, I have not experienced that myself but wanted to chime-in to encourage you to stay hopeful. Sounds like you've been monitored closely so it's likely that, if it is a recurrence, it has been caught early. Also, if your frontline treatment consisted of only brachytherapy then your doctors should have many treatment options to offer you. You have a lot of positives going for you. Stay hopeful! Wishing you strength and comfort, Kim

    Dear Tough:

    Dear Tough:

I was diagnosed with Stage 3A, Grade 2 endometrial adenocarcinoma back in 2005.   I had another surgery in 2010 where a soft tissue mass was biospied positive.   I was told it was unoperable and I needed to start chemo right away and then they would try surgery and that I would probably have a permanent colostomy.   I went for a third opinon and found a doctor who said he could operate on me.   When it was removed the mass was negative (although they found a lymph node with cells).   I currently have a 5.4 x 2.4 cm soft tissue mass on the left side of my vaginal cuff (perirectal area).   It is PET positive (low 3.2).   I had part of it biopsied and it was negative.  It stated that it was connective tissue.   They still watch it and it slowly has been growing. In 2014 it grew a lot at the time and my left ureter passed through it causing a hydroneprhosis.   I had surgery to correct the hydronephrosis and to get a good biopsy on the mass but they did not biopsy the mass.  I had too much scarring and the doctor said that part of the mass fell apart and couldn't be biopsied.  However, on my next scan the mass grew.  When I got the surgical report (I requested it), apparently because my ureter was attached to everything a small knick in my bowel occured so they repaired that and I guess didn't go further down to get the mass.  That was in Dec 2015.

The mass is still there and I know it does cause some bowel pain but I just had a colonoscopy and that seems ok.

Further, I do have a lot of inflammation throughout my body too.

My last CA125 was 14, previously 11.  But that was never an indicator for me.  I go for a CT scan in June.

    I hope this helps.

    Kathy

    Thank you, Ladies!!

    Thank you, Ladies!!

Kathy, wow, you've conquered many challenges with your cancer over a number of years.  This gives me hope.  Some of the stuff you mention I don't understand.  You had two soft tissue masses, right?  One was removed and you presently have one on the vaginal cuff.  Where was your first mass located?  They don't refer to mine as a mass.  They say thickening.  Maybe it is the same thing, I don't know.  Mine is measured at 2.2 x 1.7.  What does biopsied positive mean?  Was does a PET positive mean?  My oncologist wanted me to have a PET scan after the CT showed this result.  My insurance said no, it needed to be biopsied first.  Then the radiology department said it's too close to the colon, so wants my oncologist to do it vaginally.  How was yours done?

I have had concerning CA125 tests right along.  My normal is in the mid 20s.  But the last one was 38.

My best friend wants to go to NYC next week for her birthday.  It's been one thing after another with the CT, PET and now biopsy.  I am waiting to be scheduled for the biopsy.  I'm hesitant to wait another week, if I can get it done this week because my cancer was so aggressive.

Capillary Serous Carsonma Stage 1A grade 3

I was unable to finish recommended amount of chemo because of serious side affects, anaphlatic and neutrophenic.  Has anyone else had this similar problem.  I am new to this group and would appreciate any input.  Although I had a second opinion, I am kind of scared of cancer returning.  Good thing I know I can't control that from happening.

    luvstoquilt, there was

luvstoquilt, there was another lady here who had such severe side effects that she quit early as well.  She needed to take a 'break' from the chat boards, which we all understand, so I don't know if she will be able to comment.

Can you tell us a little more?  The women here are really a well-read, knowledgeable group of ladies, and may have some suggestions though.  Did you have a reaction to the taxol and carboplatin?  (These are the typical two we have all gotten started on)  If I recall, taxol is the toughest and drives the most reactions.  Did they suggest any other kind to substitue for it?

I think we ALL understand your fear of recurrence.  For me, the anxiety has gone down over the years, but it never really left me and pops up every now and then.  Please tell us more as I am sure the ladies will chime in.
