I need some SUPPORT?

I've been the prime caregiver for my dad for almost a year since he was diagnosed with liver cancer. For about a week now he is going downhill, I have to change him, lift him and put him into his wheelchair, cook for him & take him to his appointments. I could use some support.

You're a blessing for your Dad

Have you contacted Hospice? They should be able to offer you some help and support.

    I hope this helps.

    Hospice

Yes, call Hospice. I'm going through the same situation with my father. Hospice has been wonderful! I also applied for provider services through the state and the VA. Good luck to you and God bless you both. I know your struggle, I'm my father's main caregiver as well. No family here to help, so its just me. Emotionally and physically hard at times. I will pray for y'all.

    Dont rush to hospice. They

Dont rush to hospice. They will stop all medicine and just give pallative med.

If your father is willing to fight with meds, let him do that and hospice is like a last resort.

    Agree

I agree. Numerous Drs told me hospice was my only choice. Comfort meds, dull amber lit room and death within 3 months. I wanted to fight it. Finally one Dr agreed - that was eight years ago. I have a transplant and am cancer free. It's different for everybody but if your father wants to fight it, Hospice is not the answer. Talk to your social worker and ask for a house aid plan, if he wants to fight it. Miracles can happen.
