PET scan

I had my follow-up PET/CT on Wednesday and got mixed results. My anal cancer is gone, but it showed some uptake in the pulmonary lymph nodes. I saw a pulmonologist on Friday and he said its probably sarcoidosis and he's not worried about cancer. I will be having a bronchoscopy with lymph node samples taken next Friday to make sure. Has anyone else had this? I'm told sarcoidosis, which is lymph node inflammation, is associated with cancer, radiation treatment, and or chemo. I had all three. I'm so excited that the treatments, prayers, and positivity got rid of my cancer, but a bit nervous.

It's always a good sign when the doctors aren't worried but I'm sure you will feel better after your brochoscopy and lymph nodes turn out benign. I haven't had this happen but the only scan I've gotten post treatment is CT, not PET and I think  sometimes PET will show uptake or activity with other things besides cancer. It sounds like you are focusing on the good news that the cancer is gone and that is wonderful! Keep us posted after brochoscopy.

I'm glad your PET showed your anal cancer is gone, but I can understand your concern about the lymph node issue.  It's good that your doctor is following up on this.  The pulmonologist probably would not tell you he's not worried if there was a chance it was cancer, so I'm sure you'll get all good news after the bronchoscopy.  I've had numerous PET scans and have all kinds of things light up on them that were not cancer.  Like my radiologist friend told me, PET scans are good because they show everything and PET scans are bad because they show everything!  I will be thinking all good thoughts for you.  Please let us know what you find out from the scope.

    Thank you so much for

Thank you so much for replying to me. It's good to know someone else has had things other than cancer light up. I'm pretty positive that it will all be fine, but it's always in the back if my brain. I'll let you know how it goes Friday.

Thank you for the reply. I'm sure it will be okay and I'm trusting the Dr knows, it's just nice to hear from people who have actually had any of my issues. I'll post how everything goes.

    I had my bronchoscopy with

I had my bronchoscopy with biopsy today and it went great. My pulmonologist said he's sure it isn't lymphoma and sure it's sarcoidosis. I will have the results back next week. My throat hurts a bit from the intubation giving me a perfect excuse to have popsicles. :-)
