Anal fissures

Good morning,

April will be two years since I finished treatment.  Everything is good.  I go in every three months to see my colorectal doctor.

Im beyond thankful, it was caught earlier and I pray I have several more years to celebrate!  The only thing I have had since radiation finished is an anal fissure that will not go away.  it's tolerable but still not completely pain free.

when a harder stool passes, it breaks it open again, then I'm back to square one.  Doctor has already gave me the compounding ointment to start again. Gosh-just hate inserting that everyday.  So I'm going to give it one more go around.  He mentioned one of the last things he'll do is Botox in that area every six months.  He said it will usually heal for about 75% of patients.  1% would have leakage problems.  He mentioned I could possibly go in and basically sew (or something like that) the area, but would not recommend it because the skin after radiation changes.  So that is out, plus may experience permanate leakage.  I definetly don't want that!

has anyone ever got Botox in that area to help with these?  Did it help?

prayers go out to all those struggling with issues due to this disease.  I know a lot of you are worse off than I am.

pleare advise....sorry if my grammar is bad I'm sending from my iPhone.

please advise....thanks

    have heard of botox

yes,,, have heard of using botox for fissures on someone who did not have radiation and it worked for him.....if botox is not permanent,,,perhaps the leakage would be non permanent.....i leak a little now (7 years post tx)...not always  but have not had botox in the area.....  sephie
