I have been cancer free 14 months. I have tried to use this site to help me get through the cure.Maybe I have had differen't problems than most. I have 9 posts,2 repleys, I am not complaining .But ,I am the only one that has the problems that I am asking people for some advise, tiredness, problems to swallow,years- not weeks to recover. Not feeling normal(as before). Goodbye Thanks JB

    Not sure how to respond

I hope with patience you will find others who can give you feedback. My husband is just now beginning his treatments for Head and Neck cancer, only day 3 of radiation and 1 chemo so far. If there are specific problems that you are experiencing eventually there will be a members who is able to offer some feedback. Good luck in your recovery.

    New life after cancer treatment

Sorry you are having a hard time finding the support you need.  Do you have access to a local support group?  That experience is quite different than sharing on a message board.

Everyone's experiences and responses are different.  So it can be very difficult to respond to individual questions.

Sadly, for some of us, the simple truth is nothing ever goes back to the way it used to be.  That is not something easily shared in this environment.  My husband and myself have both had to learn to be thankful for our new realities.  This is  not easy to do, day after day.  This is very much an individual struggle that cannot be described in general terms.

Healing of body and mind is a continuous process for some of us that goes on the rest of our lives.  So we are thankful that we are here.  Living, and sometimes struggling, in our new reality.  My message to others like myself is to not give up.  Healing does continue even 15 years  later.

Good luck to you in your journey.

    too bad

    Jb 1952,

I am glad you have been cancer free for 14 months and I am sorry the response to your questions weren’t more to your liking.

I asked about your Thyroid on October 21, 2015, I guess that was one of your 2 replies.

This site has lost many active members over the 5 years I have been visiting the site.  Some to cancer and others to life.

You can often find answers in older posts.  It is truly rare if your question has not been asked and answered before..

I hope you have better luck moving forward.

BTW check your thyroid, if it is defunct, it will make you tired.

Swallowing is something many of us struggle with.  I drink 10 glasses of water a day (have for 5 years) and multiple glasses with meals.  Additionally, I went to speech classes.

It takes YEARS for some of us to recover to a good new normal.  It took me 7 months to get back to eating normal.

    Matt
