Immunotherapy

I was just put on the megace and tamoxifen regimen.  In one week, the intense pain in my pelvis and radiating out to my legs, affecting my walking and sleeping, is all but gone.  I am really surprised, and super glad I went to Boston for that second opinion.  He saved me from repeating the taxol carboplatin that would have cost me my hair.  I am very hopeful about this. The study I was given showed some promising results for thse who responded to the trial.

Henhill, Who did you see in

Henhill, Who did you see in Boston?  My oncologist in Chicago wanted me on carbo/taxol.  I went to see Dr. Brian Slomovitz in Miami.  I have been on tamoxfin and megace for 17 months with no side effects.  This is an enormous advance.

    Interested too

I'd be interested who you saw too, as hormone therapy, but just progesterone, is being proposed for the next step in my treatment and getting a 2nd opinion in Boston is a doable option for me. I'd want to be sure that there's no issues with using just the one drug instead of a balance of the two. I've always been estrogen dominant though, so that may be why.

    Boston doc

Hi everyone.  This is feeling good, even though its only a week since I started,  Thanks for the encouragement, also.  I pray this will help other women, too.  Someone who began the battle at the sametime as me passed the other day, and I just wish we could find an end to this madness!  God bless Cindy.

The Doc in Boston is Donald Dizon at MGH GYN/ONC.  There is video of him out on the internet speaking at Breast Cancer forum.  My doc in Providence recommended him because she said "he keeps up with everything new and follows all the clinical trials everywhere".  I have been very impressed, and he is quite down to earth.

Yes! He is really into social media.  I have come to value his reccomendations with regard to meds, how to proceed, etc.  He also recommended a gastro doc who specializes in patients with pelvic cancers and treatment damage.  I really woould like to pursue that avenue soon.

    henhill, I believe

henhill, I believe Jodisgoing180 on the Ovarian page is experiencing similar pain with that drug.  I am sure she would love to hear from you.
