CAPTCHA & Edit - Mods alert - UPDATE Aug 28th

I had to fill in a CAPTCHA/Word verification before replying to Newhere's post. And then when I went to edit, it would not allow. 

Is something amiss?

    No captcha for me right now, on emails I get those.  Weird.

     

    Wait, weirder.  No captcha until I hit submit, then it came up.

    Hi guys,

    Thank you for alerting us to these issues. As I'm sure everyone has noticed, we have had an influx of spam recently and have implemented some new security features to try and cut back or eliminate a good portion of the spam. We will investigate these issues and hopefully will have a resolution soon.

    I just posted to another thread and when it didn't show up, posted again. Now I see that my thread is to be reviewd, so when it is, I wonder if both posts will show. 

    I am sure I speak for all when I say thank you for your work as a mod, and trying to keep the spam off of our special forum. We will be patient as you work things out.

    Most of the "spam" is to old threads; locking down the old threads would prevent most of the spam we presently have.

    Almost all BBS software has the provision to archive and lock down threads. The individual can read the thread, but not post to it.

    Perhaps it's time for a new IT team?

    Its sad that the forum is having problems.  As you know, I've not been able to post any attachments since you had your last big 'upgrade', and now it won't let me post the little smilies that are a part of your format. 

    Meanwhile, I see the spammers are still making their way onto the forum. 

    Hope things get sorted soon. I do so like to post little smilies and my own Happy Dancing Man. The forum needs my Happy Dancing Man :)
