MRI Brain Scan Today - Preliminary Results?

in Colorectal Cancer #1

So, today we had the MRI of his brain and they gave us the disc. I took it so we don't forget it, and was going to leave it in my truck... He didn't want to look at it, and said if I did he didn't want to know anything. I looked at it. I saw the first scan, and... you can't find these tumors. Let me tell you, you couldn't miss these puppies before... But they aren't there. There's nothing there. I'm afraid to get my hopes up, but there isn't anything there. I told my mom and she believes me because I saw the first scan (they didn't). She said she won't tell on me for looking and is excited. Anybody else have this happen? It seems like it was a super quick response to radiation... but this happened with his colon and rectal tumors too... and his thyroid. And I know it's his scan because of the ears... and his name is on every picture.

    Maybe his cancer responds really well to the chemo? Did they say anything when they gave you the disc? Like that they couldn't see anything, either? I am so excited at the idea that they're gone! I pray it's true!

    The guy who did the MRI

    The guy who did the MRI looked pretty happy when he walked out and gave my dad a quarter that he dropped in the room, haha! The woman who gave me the disc didn't say anything, but I think she just burns the discs. Waiting until Thursday - but that's not me. I had an MRI on my abdomen a year ago and immediately went home and looked at it. I had NO idea what I was looking at - the abdomen is very complicated... I think the brain was easier because I had a previous scan to refer to.

    I am betting you were thrilled when you didn't see anything!  I asked for my husband's first cd scan after the Onc. discussed his diagnosis.  I saw those spots right away, there were many and you couldn't miss them. I haven't seen any since but would like to get copies of them.  I pray that you are right & nothing is there.

    I can tell you, I've looked

    I can tell you, I've looked at MRIs of my own abdomen (I don't recommend... you can scare yourself because there's so many... parts) and my own knee (they had to point out the totally blown out ACL), but the first time I saw a brain was that day in the hospital, and it was BLATANT that those tumors were there. They are bright. So, those aren't there. Holding out hope!

    It's great news, and it's still a long road. Best to stay in the middle, not too high, not too low for some, maybe for your dad. I celebrate my clear tests and scans, but after two reoccurances, I know I risk a big emotional fall if the next tests come back bad........................................Dave

    So very true. We treat this

    So very true. We treat this as a chronic condition instead of getting cured. Obviously if that happens, great. He still has cancer in other parts, and luckily it has mostly stayed at bay.
