Need advice about "hysterectomy backache"

in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1

3 weeks out from surgery and hitting a wall! I have a serious allergy to either the glue or to some antibiotic placed in the wounds across my belly. Abdomen covered for 2 weeks of firy itch still! Now I have a UTI which is a condition I am not prone to - from the catheter I guess. Antibiotics for that really causing gastric pain. And this daily constant backache. 

Mostly temporary. Need info about the backache. Who had that?

    Baby Coach, I didn't have the backache or itching. So, I don't have anything to offer up. Except I wanted to mention that you try Gas-X for your stomach gas pains. It helped me a lot after my hysterectomy and during chemo.  Also, I'm wondering if the backache is from the position they put you in during surgery? You may want to consider getting a massage to loosen up the muscles.

    I'm so sorry, (((Mary Ann)))!  I had the UTI after surgery too - probably caused by the catheter.  I also had a backache on the lower left part of my back.  I used the heating pad and some Percoset and it gradually went away.  I can't say for sure where it came from but I bet it came from being hung upside down like a bat during surgery Tongue Out.

    Yes to the itching

    The glue caused me raw, itching.  I peeled it off and wipped the wound with half peroxide, half sterile water and it helped.  Do you still have any glue left on your wound?  Can you use an antihistamine, like benedyrl to help?  As for the UTI, only antibiotics.  Sorry I can't offer any suggestions.  Hugs Nancy

    'Upside down like a bat' oh geesu, you come up with the funniest things, I am glad you belong to us, I don't want to imagine us wthout your humorous self. I am sure I will see upside down bats having hysterectomy in my sleep. It's morning here and I am now going off to sleep like a bat, Haha!

    Don't wait , these things do escalate. I had vaginal hysterectomy so no wound problems, actually no problems at all except for the recurrence.so can't help you but wishing this gets resolved soon.

    back ache...

    I had chemo almost immediately after the hysterectomy.  Thought that the hip and back pain was from the chemo...which I'm sure some was.  5 months after chemo and still having intense pain, I went to a physical therapist.  4 months had some minor relief but not enough.   Got a bone scan and it came back clear.  My PT then said, you were cut across the abdomen to take out your uterus and you didn't have time to build those muscles back up before chemo.  I wonder if its your pelvic floor.  Started treatment for that and within 6 weeks the majority of the pain is gone...  Something to look into depending on how your hysterectomy was performed.
