You can read the details of my situation at my initial thread entitled "NED from Stage IV metastatic cancer." which I
started Jan 10, 2016. I have also posted on "update after failed Taxol/Carbo".

In a nutshell.
1)11/2014- diagnosed with Stage 3B,Grade 3 endometrioid adenocarcinoma
Total hysterectomy, included removal of cervix, ovaries, fall tubes, small tumor on outer rectum
2)Jan 2015- CT scan prior to treatment showed I now had 34CM of new tumors (liver, spleen, rectum,
nodules on lungs, spleen, outer colon). Now metastatic Stage 4- told I had 4-6 mos to live
3)Jan 30, 2015- first chemo treatment (Taxol/Carbo) joined a trial at MSKCC which added metformin
to the chemo, but I didn't know if I was getting a placebo or not
4)Feb 25, 2015- asked my own doctor to put me on the real drug metformin and I removed myself from the trial.
I started with 500mg, 2X day. I am insulin resistant but had never been treated for this condition. After I had
learned of all metformin's anti-cancer properties, I realized I couldn't wait to be on this drug.
5)Mar 2015- after 3 chemo infusions, another CT scan showed my 34CM tumors were down to 4CM of tumors, some shrunk
some disappeared completely.  MSKCC could not explain results.
6) May 2015 -finished additional three chemo infusions by May 2015
7) Jun 2015- new CT scan- down to 2CM tumors -refused additional chemo
8) Doctors put me on 750MG metformin, 2X day, which I am still on today.
9) August 2015- declared NED
10) Jan 2016- another CT scan - still NED

If you were on metformin before, I would get on it again as it is the only diabetic drug that is also anti-cancer
and anti-aging.

Within 6 months of starting metformin, I was NED of 34CM of tumors. And no new tumors have grown since that time
which is now one year later.

I really believe this drug saved my life.

I am not diabetic so do not measure my sugar.  I am insulin resistant. My glucose was never higher than 118 in my life.
It was 88 at last blood test.  I have no side effects from metformin.

Being insulin resistant is about more than sugar. My A1C has been moving up and down-latest is 5.7. Highest has been 6.2.
Are you measuring your IGF-1(insulin growth factor)? That is a key element in the growth of cancer. Plus I also get blood tests
for fasting insulin.  I've lost 40 pounds in the past year (including about 8lbs from my surgery). So now my weight is back
to normal.  Excess fat around the middle generates hormones which fuel cancer growth.  My cholesterol was nearly 300
when I was first diagnosed with cancer and is now down to 208. You have to look at the "big picture." My goal is to
eliminate all the risk factors that may have led to my cancer so that hopefully it won't come back. Get my body back to
pre-cancer days. I've also radically changed my diet, eliminated almost all sugar and processed foods, try to eat organic
fruits and vegetables and hormone free meat and eliminated 99% of all alcohol. Plus I only drink purified water.
I'm also on 44 supplements/vitamins recommended by my integrative oncologist. I take a B12 supplement as metformin
can lower your B12 levels. They should be tested regularly.

I had 6 treatments of Taxol/Carbo in total.  Once I went from 34CM to 2CM of tumors, I was not afraid to stop the chemo.
You can't live on chemo forever. Though MSKCC wanted to give me up to 4 more treatments- I refused. Last chemo was
May 2015.

Being told I might only have 4-6 months to live really woke me up to radically change my lifestyle.
