Blackheads on radiated breast???

Just finished radiation, right breast.  I got the normal "weepy" rash from radiation, but also have "blackheads" in nearly every pore or hair follicle on radiated side.  Weepy rash is clear.

How do I get rid of these blackheads? (I'm not referring to the tattoos).  My skin is still so fragile/dry, I'm afraid to use normal blackhead washes.  I can't leave them alone as they are disgusting.  My rad Dr didn't have much to say. Only treated the rash.  Do I need to see a dermatologist?  I have only found one reference to these blemishes. It said they are the remnants of the hair follicles killed by the rad. No advice on clearing it up.

Help!!!

    Hello, This is my first

Hello, This is my first posting as I just discovered this site.  Your question got me thinking--so that's what that was, as I just finished my radiation a week ago and noticed two little blackheads on my breast.  Still a little sqeamish about messing with my boobala, but I couldn't resist.  Thought it might be from the Aquaphor or the Radiation Gel and expect to wash them away as soon as everything is healed.  Didn't notice them today, but your explanation makes a lot of sense.  Guess I just never considered having hair follicles on MY chest!

    Yes!

I notice no recent activity on this topic but must share. My plastic surgeon diagnosed the painful, dark lesions around my incisions. Blackheads.

Every pore on my radiated breast exuded material during radiation. I cleaned the area daily with unscented sensitive skin soap prior to radiation. So no oils or such were radiated. Applied shea butter after every radiation treatment. My towels and wash rags would be dark after washing.

Four weeks after the end of radiation - What I thought were dark, irritated, painful stitches coming back through my skin - were in fact ugly blocked pores. She had to express the pores. No other way. All in sensitive spots around incisions. Try damp, warm cloths and empty the pores. Add Shea butter or bacitracin. You will feel better And you are not alone.

I'm relieved that others have this condition. my 16 rounds of radiation ended about 10 days ago. In the last 5 days I noticed 2 real blackheads and then all the pores within a 2 inch radius around the nipple are dark...maybe they will develop into blackheads? The nipple is sensitive so I don't want to use anything that would irritate it. Any ideas? If you have had the dark pores, did they lose the darkness on their own??
