Qustion About Liver Scan

Hello everyone,

I am visiting here from the Kidney forum.  I was diagnosed with renal cell cancinoma in 2014, and had surgery that december--stage I with no evidence of metasticis at the time.  I had my 1-year monitoring scans this past december, and they detected a small 3mm 'focus of low density' in the right hypatic lobe near the dome, and recommended an MRI to further investigate, as the radiologist could not tell what it was from the CT scan due to its size.  I had the MRI last week.  I am panicking as I wait for results, as I have nightmares of going from stage I with high hopes of recovery to stage IV with low hopes of recovery.  Now, I have been told by a few people that they find stuff in livers all the time, and that most times it is benign.  I was also told that the location of this thing (near the dome) and the fact that it is a singular spot and not multiple spots, there is a good chance it is nothing to worry about.  I wondered if anyone here had similar situations or knows if what I was told is accurate, or if they were just saying this to calm my nerves.  Any input is appreciated.

Well, I had the follow up

Well, I had the follow up MRI, and the findings were similar...2.7mm focus of low density in the right lobe near the dome of the liver.  It didn't show signs of being a cyst, but it didn't enhance either.  They couldn't tell what it was due to motion artifact, and they recommended another scan in 6 months to see if it grows or remains stable.  Until then, I guess I wait and go on with life as normal.  I am still hopeful that it is benign and nothing to worry about...I just wish I could be 100% sure of that.
