Need some encouragement

I was diagnosed with TNBC in October.  Just completed 4 rounds of AC and had 2nd round of Taxol yesterday.  It looks like the possibility of achieveing a PCR prior to surgery is out of reach - tumor has only shrunk from 3.8 to around 3.0.  Also, my case is a little unusual in that I'm TN, but my PR receptors are weakly positive (30%).

I'm interested to hear from anyone that may have a similar case (TN, weakly PR positive), but also more interested in hearing from any long term survivors that has residual disease at the time of survery.  I could use some encouragement today:o)

Please and thank you!

    TNBC and Me

In late 2009 I was diagnosed with TNBC. I had a mastectomy in Feb 2010 and then 4 rounds of A/C and 12 rounds of Taxotere. Then came the 2 reconstruction surgeries. It is now 2016 and I am still here. I saw both my children graduate from college and celebrated my 28th wedding anniversary. It was a rough road but ultimately it was all worth it. I'm not sure if this was the kind of support you had in mind but it is encouraging. I wish you the best of luck. Come back here if there is anything else we can do for you.

    TNBC

Hi, I also had a low PR+.  They put me on arimidex for 5 years but my new onco says I'm closer to TNBC.  Had chemo first and some residual disease after mastectomy.  I am a 5 year survivor and am sure that you will do fine!  I had TC, 4 rounds, prior to surgery.  Tumor shrunk from over 6cm to 1.5.

    Thank you

Thank you - both of you! - that responded.  It's SO good to hear some positive stories of folks with residual disease that are still doing fine.  I've just been so disheartened that it's hard to stay positive, but I know I need to for the kids :o)  And @cati0314 especially from you, considering you were weakly PR+.  What did they estimate you at - were you also close to 30% PR+?  Did you have any nodes effected or were they all clear?

If there are any others out there that had RD left at surgery, I welcome all positive stories.  I want to keep a log of them to read when I'm feeling hopeless.

Thank you for being a great support!

    Hello I was diagnosed with

Hello I was diagnosed with TNBC in May of 2015. I had chemo first, a/c and then taxol. surgery was in November. I had a lumpectomy and bilateral reduction so that the breast would be the same size. I did not have alot of shrinkage with the tumor either but did have some and no lymph node involvement. I caused alot of stress for me. My oncologist was going to add a strong chemo med with the taxol to see if we had better results. I opted not to do this and go with the standard of care for my cancer. Some of the studies showed no significant results by doing this and the side effects are alot worse. I completed my radiation on 12/31. I am now in my survivor mode. Some of my hair is coming back and I am feeling good. Just thought I would share with you my experience. I wish you well.
