Chemo day

Sitting here "enjoying" my chemo!  WBC is up and so is my RBC.  CA 125 at 12.2 and my doctor said they won't be able to use it as an indicator.  And, weirdest of all, my blood clotting problem is getting BETTER with chemo when it should be getting worse.  So far I've lost over 20# and have to see the nutritionist.  I'm just not hungry.  I think something will taste so good, but when I eat it, it just doesn't.  I was craving pizza yesterday so our son took me out for lunch.  We ordered an 18" pizza and he ate his half.....I couldn't even finish one piece!!  But, my husband had some nice leftovers last night LOL!!

Neulasta shot tomorrow and I should be good to go for the next three weeks!!

I have most of my christmas shopping done cause I'll have chemo twice in December.  I love Christmas and mostly decorate with snowmen so I can leave everything up throughout the winter except the tree.

Take care,

Eldri

I am  glad that your blood

I am  glad that your blood counts were good and that  were able to,get chemo day.  The more you can stay on schedule the quicker you will get done.  Make sure you take the Claritin.  It does help with the Nuelasta shot.

I like the snow man idea, you can keep that up all winter.  I have been worried about putting up a tree.  I think I can get it up, but it might have to wait a while to come back down.  My daughter has helped me the last few years, but she can't come this year.

    Hugs and prayers, Lou Ann

    Eldri, I remember not wanting

Eldri, I remember not wanting to eat while I was getting chemo.  I never thought I would have that problem but I lost my taste for everything.  I really had to force myself to eat for nutritional value to keep my strength and numbers up.

    Keep kickin' girl!

    Yay

for keeping the blood counts up.  As Lou Ann said, staying on schedule means you will be done sooner.

You might try a couple of protein shakes/drinks to see if you like them.  Even if you don't feel like eating, these may be an easy way to get some nutrients in you.  I like Orgain's Chocolate Fudge shake.  Tastes and feels almost like chocolate milk in the mouth.

    Appetite

Oh, how I remember that absolute yuck lack of appetite.   I did find that ice cream and smoothies helped me get nutrition, but there were some days when even that would not work.  Drinking a milkshake or a smoothie through a straw helped when I just could not eat.  I also had some Ensure. It sounds like you've lost too much weight too quickly.  I did lose about 20 lbs, but it was over the course of my entire treatment and no one was concerned about it because it wasn't drastic.  Plus my blood counts were always high enough for chemo to never need to be delayed.  We certainly all react differently, but one thing for sure is you do need to maintain your nutrition however you do it.  Good luck.

    I have lactose intolerance so

I have lactose intolerance so I try to avoid milk and milk products.  I do eat some kinds of yogurt and small amounts of hard cheese and use half & half in my coffee.  I see Ben & Jerry's has come out with a lactose-free ice cream.  I've had IBS forever and should weigh 100# - LOL!!  I am meeting with the hospital's nutritionist so she can put something together for me.  Now with my esophageal erosion, I have to keep something in my stomach like white bread, rice, plain crackers and make sure to get enough salt especially when I have diarhea.  I also don't eat much red meat but with my RBC low, I'm making an effort to eat more.  I also think, with my body trying to build red blood cells is using more calories.  When I was burned with hot grease 40 years ago, they told me I was burning 9000 to 10000 calories a day while my body tried to heal itself.  I was in the hospital for 23 days and I lost 25# during that time.

Hopefully all will proceed according to plan and I'll be done with chemo on February 9th and then will decide if radiation is needed.

    Take care my friends!!

    Hi, Eldri

One more done, way to go girl!  Time does go by fast and February will be here before you know it.

I understand the eating problem.  Sometimes I can't even force myself to eat.  Something that I thought would be good when I start to prepare it turns out to be very unappitizing.  I have tried fruit smoothies and that works sometimes.  I just use juice and frozen fruit.  I did buy a protien powder that I try to throw in,  Someone told me to try eating more small meals instead of a few larger ones. That does help.  I have always been able to eat pizza, but sometimes a slice is all i can handle.

    Hugs and prayers, Lou Ann
