I'm back and in shock

Hello-its been awhile. Joined here back in 2009 when my first wife was dealing with stage 4 colon cancer. She died in 2010.

I remarried in 2012 and life was starting over in a good way. Last few months my wife started complaining of abdominal/back pain and the past few weeks intense pain under right breast. A CT scan yesterday with radiologhy report demonstrates metastatic lesion in lungs, pathological fx of a rib and lesions in liver.

I am re-expereincing this nightmarish journey all over again. My wife will have a PET scan next week to try and determine primary site with an oncology appointment. Life does not make sense and is not fair. You may be hearing more from me in the future. I am numb right now.

Thank you for having me back, but not real happy to be here. Nothing personal.

David

I am glad you found a new person to share your life with, but so sorry that cancer has once again found you and your new loved one. For some of us, it is relentless.

My daughter was Johnnybegood on the colon forum. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2008. As her cancer ran rampant in 2012, my husband(her stepfather) began a nighly prayer "Please take away her cancer and give it to me". He loved her as much as I did. Unfortunately, the higher power heard only half of the prayer and he was diagnosed with H&N and lung cancer in late 2012. I lost him in May 2013 and her in July 2014. I am consumed with grief and anger at this beast who took half of my family.

You are so right. Life makes little sense and is so unfair to some of us. I surely hope your wife's cancer has been caught early and is treatable.

    Take care,

    Wolfen

I am so sorry to hear about your new wife (and the one who lost her battle).  Yes this beast is horrible and it doesn't care who it strikes and how many times in one family.  My Aunt (mother's youngest sister) was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and she fought hard for over 3 years but lost her battle.  Then my youngest son (at age 42)  was diagnosed with kidney cancer and lost one of his kidneys and then one year later my husband, his father, was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer which spread one year later to his esophagus and right lung.  He fought hard for 5 years but lost his battle in July 2015.  Now my son is going thru a scare with a suspicious spot on his kidney.  If is this reoccurrence, we won't know until all the tests are final.  He and his wife are scared out of their minds, just like I am.   With one kidney left we don't know how much or what treatment is available.

Wishing you and yours peace and comfort -- Sharon

    Life is not

    Sorry David :(

Life is not fair! I was single for 11 years.  I raised 3 kids during those years.  Then found my current husband and 1 year after marriage, we got the diagnosis Stage 4 advanced and aggressive kidney cancer.  It so weird to think I waited all those years for this great guy and he maybe taken from me too soon.  Not to mention the fact that I'm back into the caretaker mode.  I want a turn for someone to take care of me but not because I'm sick.  Sorry we are both here.
