Bone scan

Did a bone scan today for lower back, hip and shoulder pain that has increased in the last few months. The scan lasted 1h30... Ain't that long? How long were yours? From what I recall, last one I had done was something like 45 min. The technologist seemed a bit worried and spent long time in the shoulders area. Wasn't anxiuous before going there, but now I am. Should have the results in 1 1/2 to 2 weeks...

It took me 45 mins, the technician told me the result right away. The previous lady had some mets from another cancer but spent almost same time as mine. I had severe chest pain for a month which led to bone scan and Ct scan with normal result. It continued for more two months but was healed by itself, my doc suggested it was muscle strain after all scans so I wasn't worried any more. Hope it turns out to be nothing serious for you too.

    Greg's latest bone scan

Greg's latest bone scan probably took about an hour. The previous mri before this last one took about 1 hour 45 mins and we were concerned. It came back fine though. Praying they were just being thorough in your bone scan.

Don't have experience with bone scans, but I'd like to say that trying to "read" docs facial expressions and mimics during the procedure is not a good idea... I had some scans/ultrasounds then docs seemed concerned, but in reality they were concentrating. I wish you a good scan results, please try not to deschipher techņician's behavior, it will lead to unnecessary worry.

Wishing you good luck with your bone scan, Dave! I have never had one. I wonder if I should ask at my next appointment? Hmmmm.

    Please keep us posted!

    Scans

Mine have varied wildly from 45 minutes to nearly 2 hours. They often pipe music into the machine.

About 45 min for my bone scan. The tech said it varies by machine type. What was really terrible was the brain MRI. Buzzing, whiring, clicking and humming that combined with being dead still for 40 minutes nearly drove me nuts.
