NED....with a "but......" hanging on the end of it!

Oncology called today to tell me there is no sign of a recurrance.....BUT.....one lymph node lit up....it is normal sized, but that "we" (ongology and ENT) will be keeping an eye on it....kind of raining on my parade Frown.  I keep telling myself that it's nothing...around here this time of year, we're breathing smoke 24/7 from the forest fires.  Just gives me something to fret about, and I'm used to having the two weeks off after a scan of not worrying about anything...period.

    Sorry to hear

Sorry to hear it's not the news you were looking for. I guess once the beast has made an impact on your life, you probably never have true peace of mind ever again. Prayers and good thoughts are coming your way for nothing short of a miracle for you. Stay strong , stay positive and most of all stay safe in the meantime.....you've got this!!!

    NED

Phrannie, as you have said so many times to so many people, it's not cancer until they say it is.   Stay positive, enjoy life and put it out of your mind.

Life is too short to fret about stuff you can't control.    I know it's easier said than done but you've coached many a person on this site to follow those great words of wisdom.

Try not to fret Dear Phrannie.  If the doctors were thinking it was something I am sure they would biopsy it.  What was the wording on the final, written biopsy report?  Go on enjoying life.

I didn't get to see the scan report...

the Oncologist just called me.  She seemed to be fine with the fact that my next appointment  with her is in November, and that my next appointment with the ENT is in October....but the more I thought about it, the more I decided that I was going to bump that ENT appointment up....I don't want to hang around for two months "waiting and watching"....so I called.  They are going to see me at 7:40 tomorrow morning.  WOW.

I'm not as freaked out as I have been before....amazingly....maybe a person does get used to a hammer hanging over their heads...LOL.  But I'm just thinking that the ENT has no idea what the scan results are, because he wasn't scheduled to even see me till October 15th....now....he'll be in the know, too.  New ENT, t'boot.....my guy that I love just retired Cry

    Most likely nothing..

It is most likely just the lymph gland doing what they do, fight infection. With the fires you could have breathed in something and you body knows it and is responding.

I was out the other day and I can't smell anymore but there was something in the air. If the wind blows just right I can smell, but as a neck breather things are different. As I rode by one of my neighbors he commited there aws ash on his car. Dah, the fire in the mountains, and the wind was blowing some of the ash down to here. I even got something in my eyes so I wore special glasses when I rode so nothing would get in my eyes. I will still keep my fingers crossed for you and as always the prayers are always there as well.

    Scan Results

Oh, Phrannie. I know you're hanging on that fan again, but I'm glad it won't be for long. It is most likely from the smoke, but our brains just jump to bad conclusions. Extra prayers for you tonight.

    staying strong

Phrannie:  You've been a good source of comfort and common sense and you can't put a price on that.  Its so hard to stay strong when you don't know what will happen.  Best wishes, Steve from Wisconsin.

    Update:
Went to the ENT this morning, and when he looked at the scan he said "this looks great!"....said they have to mention the node because I've had cancer and it's bigger than it was in the last scan...however....the nodes I have left are doing more work because there is less of them.  He ultra-sounded it so we have a baseline.  I went to bed with one foot in the grave, I swear....and when I talked to him, I was ready to kneel down and kiss his feet...LOL.  He ultrasounded the node, so we have a baseline, but he sees no cancer what so ever....I got my NED!!  PHEW!

I figure this was a God thing....normally it takes a month to get into the ENT....and when I called yesterday to bump up my October appointment, they happened to have an opening at 7:40 this morning....took my off the ceiling fan fast!

Lights up but turns out to be nothing.....

I had something similar happen to me.

the first post rads PET found a 'couple' of minor hot spots but given the initial diagnosis and staging the tumor board wanted me to have a selective neck dissection.  That supposedly - perhaps 'allegedly' is a better term - took out all the nodes in levels II, III and IV.

fast forward to the next scan, some 6 months post rads and we find new areas of concern.

I'll spare you the knashing of teeth and rending of hair but a second neck dissection was laid on, when the 'new' nodes were exposed the surgeon sent them for testing as she thought that a modified radical was now in order.

the good part - all of the nodes and tissues harvested tested negative so no modified radical, and an unnecessary surgery....

so on the one hand, as the rest of our family is saying - it isn't cancer unless they say it is.  My two cents - scar tissue.

    P :-)

    Great

great news, you'll have to get rid of that fan. I really worry about you and the others and myself when its worrying news. The op, the radiation, the chemo should get rid of the demon, it's not fair when it comes back after all we go through for a ' cure'. I think we all tremble in our shoes when 'one of the family' get a reoccurrence. I'm so glad you got an early appointment to put your mind at rest. God bless......

    Hi P

    Cool

As you know it is always something, with me for the first 5 years after my second treatment I lit up like a Christmas tree all my PET scans. But thanks to a very good doctor at MDA he did not believe it was more cancer like all the other doctors believed it was. I went by his opinion because in my book if MDA said you don’t have cancer you don’t have cancer. Enjoy life and make everyday special.
